Front door latches securely and cannot be accidentally opened. Small and medium crates have one secure latch. Large and extra large crates have two secure latches. I Absolutely love the modern look about this dog crate and my dog is loving his new home. The item was delivered to me with scratches and dents unfortunately which I did hate (Even considered sending the item back) but once I got past the perfectionist in me I decided to keep the item after all and it’s still a very beautiful addition to my home. Now let’s talk assembly!!! The assembly was “Fairly Easy” I had my husband put it together and he maybe was about 20 to 30 mins. He says the instructions were not the best but he fixes and puts together all types of things anyway so for someone like him he broke no sweat at all lol. If it means anything to anyone the door swings both in and out so for those who keep the door open or those who want to put it in a corner where u don’t have much extra wall and don’t want the door to be in the way when opening then this is also great, only downside to that is that if u get the pet a bed the same size the crate then u won’t be able to push the door inside due to the bed blocking the door from going inside the crate. As you see the top of the crate gives you a great surface area for whatever u may want to put on top of the crate weather it be the dogs toys/Food/A Lamp/ Or maybe even just some decorative cool items to make the crate look even more stylish and inconspicuous. Overall the build quality seems to me to be excellent and should last a long time of course with proper treatment only lost a star due to the scratches I mentioned it came with.     • Great Dog Kennels and Works as Side Tables! We bought two!

We LOVE these kennels! We have two Pomskies (17 and 26 lbs.) who are known escape artists and heavy duty chewers, but they have never escaped (nor chewed) these kennels and we've been using them for about a year now. Another big plus is that no one even notices these kennels because they fit perfectly with our decor next to our couch and recliner and act as great side tables! Once someone does finally notice that they are kennels, the comments are always positive, such as: "That's brilliant!" or "I have to get one of those for my dog!" When we are at home, we leave the doors open (they can swing both outwards or inwards) and the dogs will often voluntarily go in their little "dens" to chew their bones, play with a toy, or take a nap! They feel safe and secure inside. We learned that you can NEVER leave a Pomsky unattended in your home for even a short time! So, when we have to leave them "home alone," they willingly go inside their kennels until we return. The longest we have ever left them in their kennels was probably 6 to 7 hours, but we know that when we come home, they are both safe and sound in their kennels and our house still looks the same as when we left it! The only reason I gave it 3 stars for the "traveling" option is because, depending on what size kennel you purchase, these can be quite bulky and may need to be disassembled for traveling if you have a small trunk or backseat. But, if you have a truck or larger SUV, I could see one (or two) of these going in the back without the need to disassemble them. I cannot speak highly enough about these kennels . . . they're tough enough for our two Pomskies, they serve as a "safe haven" for our dogs, look good in our living room, and serve as great side tables, too! These are so much better than the metal crates we used to use. I'm so grateful for these because they give us the peace of mind we need knowing that our two dogs are safe (and so is the rest of our home) when we're gone! ... show more

One thing to be aware of if you have a pet that does not like to be in a kennel it’s possible for them to escape. We’ve enjoyed this for about a week and then today our Havanese poodle mix decided she didn’t wanna be in it any longer, and somehow chewed / clawed through the plastic to release two of the bars on the side, and then escape and crawl through. So for some a traditional pet kennel might work better it’s sad because we did like the product and the look it’s just have to drop 100 bucks on something to only have it last week. ... show more

I have a Shih Tzu dog and first bought the small size and he hated it, so I returned it and bought the large size. I feed him a treat when he goes in but he tends to bark constantly until I let him out. He's 12 years old and does better uncrated. I'll keep it anyway because I like it.

Overall am pleased with this product. It may not be the most heavy duty crate on the planet, but I believe that it will suit our needs. Product arrived in good condition. Only negative we had was with the screws. They are plastic and we’re very difficult to get a hold.
