  • Excellent folding, lightweight panel with rigid legs
I picked this up on sale, so it was a good value for money. I bought it to replace my 100w Goal Zero Boulder suitcase panel, which I use for overlanding and camping, to charge my Yeti 400 Lithium that runs my fridge. My GZ panel is very heavy and cumbersome to use; it was also difficult to pack, since it was so large. This panel is a fraction of the weight of the GZ panel, but is still rated for 100w. Unfortunately, my Yet has a PWM controller, so the most power I have seen out of this panel is 70w. I also have a smaller Anker power station with an MPPT controller, but it caps out at 65w. While my equipment is incapable if fully utilizing this panel's capability, I have no doubt that it's output is excellent, as it is identical to the output of my GZ panel. This folding panel is only one I have seen with rigid supporting legs. They have limited adjustability with only two positions, but they are strong and sturdy, if somewhat inconvenient to use due to how they work. To set up the panel, you insert two rods into the support brackets on each panel and and the aim it towards the sun. The legs will not fold up on themselves like the fabric ones do. The legs are independent of the panel and so could be easily lost, but there is a storage place in the support brackets. This panel is light but sturdy and it has rigid construction with fabric hinges. Other panels seem to fail over time due to the sun fading and damaging the fabric material. This one should not suffer that same fate. They will be inherently less robust when compared to an aluminum and glass suitcase style kit, but they are sturdy enough for my needs and much easier to store and setup. I would definitely buy this panel again. ... show more

  • LOVE THIS THING!
I was looking for the biggest (strongest) solar panel that was portable and would fit in the windshield of my GMC Savanna camper van. This fits the width with maybe about 4 inches left on either side and only goes about two thirds of the way up the windshield. It definitely makes the most of that space so I can charge my batter and my Chafon solar power supply. At 120Watts, the Chafon cannot handle any more than that and it'll charge in no time. This thing draws major power! As for the charge controller, I don't really care because for only $30 (Amazon) sells a bluetooth battery monitor and I can just use that. The only drawback is that it doesn't have legs to stand it up so you have to get creative, especially on windy days! Grommets and/or a stand would be perfect! But other than that, this thing kicks out some power! ... show more

  • Works Great
Size: 200W
Have had this 200 watt unit about a month and used twice so far. According to my Renogy MPPT solar controller, the input was 185 watts. Not bad for a cold mid December afternoon. 3-4 hours at that rate should cover my daily camping usage. The construction seems to be adequate and the built in supports make for easy setup. They should include an MP4 connector disconnect tool with purchase. ... show more

  • Easy for amateurs and charges as fast as a wall outlet!
tl;dr: Easy, powerful, and portable. Whether you want a solar backup at home or an extra boost of energy at your base camp that you can throw up at a moment's notice, this is the panel to get. I sit around approximately 43 degrees N latitude and bought this around the spring equinox; suffice to say, I was not expecting great results as the season was just barely out of winter and I live fairly far north. I have used this only a few times so far to charge a 178 Wh lithium-ion battery (NEXPOW Portable Power Station, 178Wh Solar Generator, also available on Amazon) as a backup power supply for my laptop and smaller electronics. Setup is minimal, and a small zipped bag on the back of one of the panels contains all the cords you need to directly charge a lithium-ion battery via DC (i.e. supplies power straight from panels, avoiding charge controller entirely), charge a 12V battery using the included leads (via the charge controller), or wire in something else of your choosing through the charge controller. (Note: I wouldn't recommend adding your own wiring without some electrical knowledge beforehand; it is easy to fry electronics, particularly because solar panels provide DC power - not household AC power!) I have used this intermittently in the week or so I have owned it with great success. After opening the panels, eyeballing and placing the panels at a rough right angle (perpendicular to the sun), attaching the DC cords out of the panels, and hooking up my backup lithium-ion battery (a 30 second process overall), I was pleasantly surprised to see the battery charged about as fast as it had when I had previously plugged it into the wall of the house. Closing the panels, unplugging my battery, and stowing away the cables was just as fast. I later used it briefly with a 12V battery to make sure the charge controller functioned, and it seemed to work just fine. For living far up north just as spring was coming around, I was impressed with the results. While it not fragile per se, it is not a good "field" or "outdoor" panel; it is not waterproof, there is little physical protection for the panels themselves (opened or closed), and the zipper, buckles, and electronics could be vulnerable to dirt or mud. This panel would be best suited in a clean, dry place that can be secured from the elements (e.g. car, RV, home, cabin, etc.). Overall, a great buy! ... show more
