I have two very large boys-grey one is 16lbs and the brown one is 18lbs for reference-and this is the first sturdy yet soft carrier I could find that fits them comfortably. The second I opened it up, they were both in it and have enjoyed napping inside so much that I haven't folded it back up. I LOVE that the top zipper opening is very large and therefore easy to get them in for a vet visit in a hurry if they are not so inclined. I had a previous carrier with similar dimensions but the top opening was too narrow to be really useful. Haven't taken it out for travel or an appt but walked around the house with each of them inside and it seemed sturdy and wasn't pulling under their weight. I like this type of carrier for vet visits over the soft crates with hard frames. They each have enough room that I feel comfortable traveling with them in it for a small road trip if need be. If you want your large cats to have plenty of room in a carrier that's not heavy on its own, this is your winner!!!! I've tried about a dozen for them before and this is my favorite.

Took it on Alaska Airlines with my cat. He absolutely loved it and still uses it as a bed. It was a bit difficult to carry as the bottom pad would slide out of place, causing it to rotate. Still got the job done (and fit fine under my seat!)

This carrier is well made and collapses down nicely for storage. Unfortunately, the small size is smaller than you think. My 13lb cat can just turn around and it looks pretty cramped. When in doubt, size up.

This is a great size. I am SO glad we sized up. Based on the measurements, the smaller one would have been adequate, but given the space, I feel much more comfortable placing either one of my cats in this carrier. I hate when cats can’t even turn around in carriers. This one allowed for each cat (during his/her turn) to have enough room to actually lie down in a restful position, which essentially extinguished the woeful crying during car rides to the vet. Since the cat is comfortable, s/he ultimately relaxes and rides out the inconvenience of being confined. The bottom doesn’t buckle or sack like I’ve read in reviews for other items. The color is deep enough purple that even my male cat is not embarrassed to be seen in it :-)

Lots of room for both nursing mother cat and her 5 kittens. Super easy to put together, multiple options for entry. Works well transporting them for their veterinary wellness checks. Placed carrier in area with mother and kittens before needing to transport them. Kittens gravitated to the carrier right away and both mother and kittens were content and happy in it.
