The version of these blinds that come in white with an aluminum coating are not light-blocking. They aren't advertised as such; however, I assumed with the aluminum coating, they would be. (I was wrong.) Quite a bit of light still gets through, which is OK, unless that's not what you want. As for installation, getting the backing strip off the adhesive is an exercise in madness. The adhesive is VERY tacky (which is good), but getting a start on the backing strip was difficult. Then, the backing strip would tear, and you'd have to start all over again. Once that backing strip was off, installation was ridiculously easy. Keep in mind, you get ONE SHOT at placing the blinds. If you screw up, the likelihood you will be able to reposition the blinds is essentially zero. After you get the covering installed, be sure to GENTLY pull the blind down as far as it will go. This should separate the pleats that stick together. After that, you can adjust to taste. You can also trim the string to fit. Just understand once you do that, you won't lower the blind further than the end of the string. I didn't purchase these to be temporary; that is, I intend on leaving them up as long as they are servicable. I don't mess with blinds/shades much, so I'm thinking they will last quite a while. If you are an "up and down" person with blinds and shades, I would not expect this solution to last long. ... show more

These are made of paper. It has a 17-in hard plastic strip at the bottom edge and when shipped, The rest of the blind on either side is folded around it. So when it arrives you have two bends at each side about 9 in from center which will contain wrinkles and micro tears and other visible imperfections for the entire length of the blinds. When you install them they look absolutely horrendous. They are wrinkled and uneven and the bottom corners will droop because they are not supported by the smaller plastic piece that only spans 17 in. The accordion paper does not unfold evenly when you pull the blind down and if you try to pull it or adjust it manually you will rankle the paper, forever marring its appearance. Also, there is a string that hangs from the center of this bottom plastic strip that will always be hanging down while the blinds are up unless you secure it or tie it up in some fashion. They are not even worth the $9 each that I paid for them. They look horrendous, they work terribly, it's a poor design, and unless you need shabby looking paper blinds for your abandoned soon-to-be demolished property, I would not recommend them. ... show more

These blinds are okay. The custom sizing is really hard to get right, and the adhesive is not very strong to hold them up to be able to close them. Hopefully the adhesive gets stronger as they sit. They also look and feel like paper so the quality isn’t very nice I wouldn’t put these in a main room, but they will do in my nursery ... show more

    • Great Temporary Blinds

For a temporary blind, these are the bomb! They're very easy to hang—just measure the window and cut the blind to size. I purchased some heavy-duty scissors for the job, and they made the cutting easy. Be sure to divide the cutting on both sides of the blind. So, if you need to trim the blind by 4 inches, cut 2 inches off of one side and 2 inches off of the other side. A great feature of these blinds is you simply pull them down or push them up. You can stop at any point, and the blind will stay in place. Most other temporary blinds need to be 'folded up' one crease at a time, then held together with the provided plastic clips. They're a major pain! These are so great that I began wondering why we were spending $20,000 on Hunter Douglas blinds when we could do the whole house with these shades for just a few hundred dollars. Then I remembered I'm not in my twenties and not living in an apartment! ... show more

I originally purchased the 6 count on Jan 9, 2022. I thought they were pretty neat for a temp shade. It was easy to cut and install them. Then they all fell down a week later. So I highly recommend buying heavy duty double-sided mounting tape. I used the Scotch brand and it’s holding up really well and it’s been over a year. But now I have to replace one of them thanks to my cat. So I purchased the 2 count a year later on Feb 15, 2023. Well now they’re completely different from the first ones I bought. The new ones are thinner and more sheer. They don’t have the foil lining on the back side to block the sun. And these windows get a lot of sun. Needless to say, I didn’t like them and they didn’t match the other ones. I contacted the company about this and they never responded back. So I returned them. ... show more
