Setup was simple although removing it from the box was weird as the pieces are all kind of intertwined with cardboard, almost felt like unboxing your kids toys on Christmas.. Undo the quick release collar on the auger and slide the pin out then slip it on the splined shaft and reattach the pin/quick release, easy! Battery arrived at about 1/2 full for shipping (transport requirement) and took a little longer than I expected to charge. Charging unit is a little larger (Thick base due to fan) than most for this size battery and has a fan which will hum a bit while charging. Battery attachment and retention to the main unit is via a lever which engages to the battery. I'd like to have this be a button on the battery or something like that vs. having the lever poking out to get bumped/turned etc...but perhaps there's a reason for this, maybe easier to operate with gloves on. Other than that the construction of the unit feels sturdy and plastics feel of decent quality. I did note some abrasion damage between the auger and main unit screws but the auger is going to get all scratched up and dirty within a couple uses anyway and that screw head isn't going to care about some red paint on it. Variable speed operation was a bit narrow but may operate better under load, I have not run any holes with yet yet but will update when I get some time in the yard. ... show more
