I have not yet used the collar with my dog-just giving her time to get used to wearing it but.. it's size is a good match for her small 23lb frame. The controls on the remote are very easy to identify, even when you are not looking directly at the remote. I purchased a clip on bungee collar to use with it and it makes it very fast to put the collar on and off. I know a number of people who use the Mini version and all have been very pleased with its functionality and durability. A great improvement from the old giant heavy collars from years back.     • Best training aide in my opinion
This is my second Mini Educator. We had the standard mini for a larger dog and now the micro. Great training aide once your dog understand basic commands. The variable adjustment is great from 0-100, it also has vibrate mode and has to working lights. Great overall e-collar.

I love the Educator. I use it with my giant shepherd mix. I really wanted to get one for Bambi, my 15lb chihuahua mix so we could take her training to the next level, too. I was really happy when I saw that it fits her! Rather than turning the strap back on itself like I do for my big dog, the strap on this one is long enough to just wrap around her neck twice. She has a 12” neck. She’s a muscular little thing, so I’d look at the pictures I included to decide if it would fit your dog. She’s dense, but small. I highly recommend using a trainer to learn how to use ecollars. I got the first one though a trainer I took my other dog to and fell in love with the new trust and respect my dog has for me. It’s a game-changer! But it can quickly overwhelm your dog if used incorrectly. ... show more

    • Great for small dogs
Very well-built unit, on par with its larger cousins. Very small unit that is working great for training our 10 lb. puppy. We have had the Mini-Educator for our 50 lb Spaniel for 7+ years and it has held up very well. I expect this unit will have similar excellent performance.

We have purchased so many collars in the past and none worked. Our dog trainer recommended this one and it works! Our barker no longer barks with this collar on.

    • Too Big for My Tiny Dog
Gave this 3 stars, as I don't know how well it actually performs. It was way too big for my tiny dog (6lbs), even though it is marketed for dogs 5+lbs. The collar itself couldn't get tight enough, and the prong portion was giant on his tiny neck. I'm sure it works great for bigger dogs, and it is a very reputable brand. This is a great training tool if you use it correctly. We have a great dog but it is hard to get her attention and we wanted to train her in a kind manner without using food as a reward so we hired a trainer. He explained and showed us how to use this as a gentle nudge to catch and hold our dogs attention in order to train her to follow commands using our voice and hand signals. For the price I was expecting more lifetime of the battery, it works fine but I still think it leave some marks in my dogs neck
