Description

A parfocal cine lens, the DZO 20-70mm T2.9 MFT Lens from DZOFilm is designed to maintain focus as you zoom in or out. Although parfocal lenses can have some small focus changes, the amount is minimal and you can keep overall focus consistency throughout the zoom range. In addition to this, the lens has near- zero breathing, ensuring consistency in framing, and it provides rounded highlights thanks to a 12-blade iris. True to its cine design, it has a focus rotation of 270° and offers 26 focus marks along the range. It also has an all-metal housing, so it's a durable lens. It has a two-sided focus scale, featuring both imperial and metric measurements. Back focus adjustment of 19.2mm in small increments allows you to efficiently switch this lens between different MFT-mount cameras. • A great cine zoom, worth the money.
After about 30 shoots using this lens, I'm very happy. It's not the sharpest lens but its softness actually works in its favor. I've found I get similar results using my Sigma 18-35 with a 1/8 BPM filter. Not to say the image is soft in any way. Just that the edges are smoother and pleasing. The back focus lets me nail the parfocal so zooms are perfect. Flares are pleasing and not overpowering. My only gripe would be that I actually do miss the speedbooster on my pocket 4K for the crop mitigation as well as the added light. The focus throw is also really long and my follow focus can't travel the entire length. The focus gear also require more torque than a dslr lens so don't assume you'll be able to use a motor with weak torque on this like the nucleus nano. My Zhiyun Crane Lab 3 follow focus motor wouldn't pull it. Only the zoom gear motor had enough power to move it. It's also heavy so you'll need lens support. Just things you'll need to consider. ... show more

  • Great starter Cine Zoom!
I'm loving this lens so far. There are a few caveats like softer focus and kinda far minimum focus distance but for this price, it's amazing! I rarely need to change lenses anymore as I used to use only prime cinema lenses; this save a lot of time being able to zoom to the focus distance I require.

  • Good Lens, over all....but
The media could not be loaded. No complaints, except the lens cap appears to be slightly warped, making it difficult to place it straight on the lens. The lens vignettes when wide open with a matt box attached. Also, the parfocal feature does not work. For the longest time, I thought I was doing something wrong but I went over the set up with the company and could not get subjects to stay in focus when changing focal lengths. ... show more
