The factory camera in my 2011 dodge dually flatbed was horrible - when the sun was shining you couldn't see the screen. Drove me crazy. Plus I needed a 2nd camera to see the fifth wheel hitch on the bed, without one hooking up was trial and error. I tried wireless cameras for ease of installation - and could never get a good picture, so went to this wired version. I mounted one camera overlooking the rear hitch, the other near the top of my headache rack. The cameras are a bit bigger than I would like - the factory camera was minature compared to these. But again - looking for functionality - not so much asthetics. it wasn't horrible running the wires - I used a plastic loom to protect the cable and ran it alon the bottom of the flatbed, under the cab - and into a storage compartment under the back seat. This is where I stored the excess cable that comes with the cameras. I then ran the cables under the floor mat - into the center console - where I have a 12v plug in. I couldn't find any good place to mount the display on the dash or such - so I got another product from Amazon that fits in the cup holder -and holds the display firmly (also holds my cell phone at the same time). The wires just run down and under the seat - not ideal - but it works. This way I didn't have to get into pulling my dash apart - and I can easily remove this if I choose. You can see in the displays where I mounted the cameras - and the pictures it presents. I do wish the back camera had a little wider field of view so I could see 'objects' behind me - but the only way to make it function like I needed - was to mount it looking directly down at the rear hitch. It has helped immensely for hooking up trailers as intended. I have only had these on for a couple weeks - so I cannot yet comment on durability - but so far so good. ... show more

    • 4 pin not compatible with Weldex WDRV cables
My RV has an old black and white Weldex backup system. It uses 4 pin connectors for the camera. I want to upgrade but reuse the installed cable as found on many motorhomes in the US. However devices on this system do not mate with Weldex and I could not find any available adapters. I will say that the DVKNM cables and connectors actually seem beefier than what came on my OEM installed Weldex. Anyway, I have to return this system ... dock one point for that. That is a shame since the when I bench tested it works nicely. Color is good and B&W night vision is good to over 50 feet. The mount that come with it is rather flimsy but I was going to adapt it to my existing overhead mount that is stout enough for the heavy CRT screen I am replacing. This unit also comes with a bezel that will hot melt glue nicely into a wood box frame or cut out in a plywood panel. The screen snaps easily in and out of this bezel. That is the best way to mount this unit on a moving vehicle. The supplied swivel and tilt mount is small and puts a lot of stress on the 1/4" treaded hole in this screens light plastic case - thus dock another rating point. The case also has a T-slot running up the back of the case. The square nut on the swivel and tilt mount fits this T-slot and is somewhat sturdier. But in a moving vehicle running over bumps and potholes the screen will be shaking more than the vehicle. It should be fine for a stationary installation such as security camera running off 12 volt DC power. PS: the mount as supplied does not swivel. But the plastic protrusions that lock rotation can be filed off. You have to temporarily remove the stamped metal base which is held on by one center screw. ... show more

I mounted the monitor in the cab of my combine. One camera I mounted on the back to aid in backing up, and to monitor the rear chopper output. The second camera, I mounted on the left side near the unload auger to watch the grain cart. Works great! Easy to install too.
