This cooktop was purchased to use in our guest house. It's stylish, light weight, and relatively inexpensive. Induction cooking has many benefits, and this unit delivers on them - partially. One immediate issue on unpacking was the sound of a loose object in the chassis. Perhaps a small screw or debris from manufacture. There's no way to get it out without disassembly, so this unit is going back. While it was in the kitchen, it was tested: boiling water, frying eggs, and making a stove-top casserole. The left burner (1800W) did the expected job of boiling water quickly at high power - the first time. A later try with the same pan, quantity of water, and setting (Power:10) took over twice as long to come to a boil. Measuring the power draw from the outlet with wattmeter read 1150W, not anywhere near 1800W, with only the left burner on. Other cooking with the left burner likewise did not deliver full power on the 10 setting. When the burners are on, cooling fans run full time and are noisy. Granted this is intended to be a built-in, however the noise level is a bit too much. I'll be trying a newer model that is designed for countertop use. Hopefully it performs to specifications, doesn't have manufacturing defects, and is quieter. ... show more

    • Phenomenal for single piece cookware (non clad or bonded)

Incredibly fast and even heating, outperforms my gas stove in almost every way. If I cook with my cast iron pans I couldn't be happier with Duxtop (as this is my second duxtop product, my single burner model is equally phenomenal) My biggest complaint is that my partners fancy bonded cookware makes an awful whine at high power, at medium and low power its more of just an annoying buzz. I now understand this isn't exclusively Duxtops fault, it's just how induction works with clad, but it was quite disappointing to find this out the hard way. I wish they put a disclaimer in the product description saying it may make unwanted noise with clad pans at high power. I also prefer the 'mechanical' buttons of my single burner model, as splashed liquids can activate these 'touch sensitive' buttons, but that's not a deal breaker for me. I don't want to return this unit as my partner and I still use it daily, and I still have my single burner for holidays when we need even more space to cook. It really is a great product, if we need to deep fry or cook at high temps we normally preheat at a medium heat before turning all the way up. For single piece cookware like my traditional and enameled cast iron this is undoubtedly the best way to cook. ... show more

The 2 burners (or whatever they're called for induction) being different wattages can be confusing since the numbers don't line up (5 on one doesn't equal 5 on the other), but the functionality makes cooking way faster and easier. It's really intuitive once you read the directions (I haven't needed the temperature function yet) and the quality is apparent. The media could not be loaded. Purchase the induction stove for a small living space. I only needed two burners and man it works great. I wanted the ability to move it around or take it outside while grilling. I love the portability. You can change the settings to be by 1 to 10 or you can do it by temperature. I like this unit a lot I use it all the time, it takes some getting use to. Because I have another single top and I only need to turn it on and set temp. This one you have watts to adjust and a timer if you need it.

    • LOUD! Uneven heat.

It's a very good size product. Appears well made but 2 issues for me that result in returning the product. 1. LOUD. Used different style pans (clad, ss, and cast) and was very loud with all of them. Unit might be okay if installed in counter or a closed housing, but as a countertop unit it was too much. 2. Uneven heat. on each of the pans used it only heated with the inner 4" element, no matter the pan size. This is strange for an induction which normally heats the entire bottom of the pan, but I had very obvious 5" hotspot in the middle of the pans and water would only boil from the center. Maybe I received a defective unit? I will be exchanging for a replacement and purchasing a few others to compare, but it is performing nothing like a built in home stove top. ... show more
