  • Beats expectations for price
Pattern Name: Pump Style: 70-GPM 2-Inch High Pressure Pump
For the price this pump can not be beaten. Runs great. I am pumping water through 600' of 2" hose and running a 1.25" sprinkler covering a 170' diameter.

  • DuroMax 3" Gas Pump
Pattern Name: Pump Style: 220-GPM 3-Inch Gas Pump
Saved me thousands of dollars. Storm Sandy flooded my Dad's basement on Long Island. The disaster recovery companies, "thieves", were charging $2500 - $3400 for pump out. With no experience I ordered this pump and appropriate hoses. It was unbelievable! In 45 minutes it pumped out 30" of water in a full basement. A big caution: You can not run the generator dry. Also, priming the pump proved easy, but the procedure was not described in the manual for applications requiring big suction side lifting. The manual indicated that the only necessary priming is to pour a limited amount of water into the pump body through a plug on top of the pump. This is probably not adequate if you need to suck up a significant lift such as 6 feet down a basement. I was advised by someone with a lot of experiences to fill up the entire discharge hose if possible, and possibly part of the suction side, in addition to the pump body as indicated in the manual. Once you get a big column of water moving on the discharge side, the resultant vacuum will pull the water up into the pump on the suction side. Use the water in the discharge side hose to keep the pump full and wet while you wait for the pump "to catch". It took close to a minute, but man did it pump. Worked first try. For this reason you probably need a long discharge hose to prime the pump effectively for a long suction lift. I imagine many people think that they can skip buying a discharge hose. This would be a mistake. If you only need to lift a couple feet then no discharge hose is probably necessary. I bought a hose kit with 20 ft suction and 25 ft discharge. I followed the advice above and it worked great! I will say that the required massive and stiff 3" suction hose is awkward to handle, and it was a bit of overkill. The pump became useless at about 3" of remaining depth. It just sucked a hole in the water and sucked mostly air. A pool cover pump loaned to me was able to suck the floor nearly dry, less than 1/4". The sump pumps seemed to require at least 1.5 inches of water to operate. I am no expert, but I had great results with this gas pump and I think above advice is accurate. ... show more

  • Intake flapper broke off at 80 hours, Pump failed at 500 hours, engine flawless
Pattern Name: Pump Style: 427-GPM 4-Inch Gas Pump
I was happy with this pump. The engine starts easy and runs well. Then at 80 hours runtime, the pump wouldn't prime. The suction intake flapper valve broke off. The flapper valve is a disc of steel encased in rubber. The rubber surrounding the flapper valve, the hinge and the gasket that seals the fitting is all one piece of soft rubber. I'm surprised it lasted this long. It WILL break, it's just a matter of time. Also, in my case water and mud got inside the rubber casing surrounding the steel flapper plate and deformed the rubber. It never held the prime water in very long. Anyway, parts break, things happen, I'll fix it... You can't buy parts for this pump. I called Duromax. They won't honor the warranty because I bought it here, on Amazon. The service rep said to start a return on Amazon and it would get to them.. Amazon return flat out said this item is not returnable. That's it, end of story. Sold and shipped by Amazon Services LLC, so no third party shadiness either. One month and a failure that makes the pump useless. Duromax WILL NOT EVEN SELL YOU THE PART. The flapper valve gasket is part number is DS40-32030 and is only obtainable through their warranty. [Update 12/30/2021] I called Duromax again and got a different rep. This one just asked me to email him a copy of my Amazon receipt and description of the problem and a new flapper valve should be on the way now. Still, I've found this pump to be sold by local big box stores. If you have one of those nearby, maybe buy it there so you have a convenient place to return it if Amazon or Duromax doesn't feel like cooperating today. [Update 1/21/2022] Still no replacement flapper valve gasket. I have purchased a 4" foot valve for the submerged end of my suction hose here on Amazon for $150. This should allow me to fill the suction hose and pump housing with water to prime it. The foot valve is cast iron and standard parts so easy fix when the seal wears out. It's too bad weak/consumable parts are not available for this pump. My recommendation of buy it somewhere you can return it stands. Duromax and Amazon did NOT honor their warranty. In the pictures I've posted, you can see the small rubber tabs at the top of the round flapper valve. That is all that's holding the valve on. [Update 5/9/2022] Duromax did eventually make good on their warranty, the replacement flapper valve arrived today. 5 months after I called them. Sadly the pump has other issues at this point and the replacement valve arrived too late to be of any use to me. The pump is at 500 hours runtime on my meter. Everything was working fine with my addition of the extra foot valve until today. I noticed the flow was low and see the pump is leaking water externally. It looks like the cast aluminum pump housing is cracked or the impeller failed. I'm going to disassemble it to see what happened. Safe to say it's done for. The engine half.. spectacular. 500 hours runtime and never missed a beat. Starts first pull, every time. I've run it nonstop for weeks connected to external fuel tanks. I've changed the oil probably 5 times and have been using 15w40 (what I have handy). 5 stars on the engine. I guess my final verdict would be it's a good value if you get it at $300 which it's currently on sale for. You will also have to buy an additional foot valve for your suction hose. 500 hours of pumping for $300 is not bad. I just bought another one. ... show more

  • Poorly described product that is not returnable
Pattern Name: Pump Style: 427-GPM 4-Inch Gas Pump
This sounds like a good reasonable price for a pump that can move lots of water. However, the description doesn't bother to mention that the hoses for the pump cost 2+ times what the pump costs. It is extremely heavy as are the hoses, so really is only for serious contractor/professional use. The instructions are very poorly worded and very limited in scope. A PowerMax representative on a help line also finally revealed that the pump is not self priming, so you need to fill up the entire intake hose with water before it will work = no mater how long the hose is and I had purchased very long hoses (so he instructed me to buy an additional swing check valve to keep the water in while you try to start the pump which I had to search all over for since a 4" hose is unusually large). Of course, Amazon lists it in its not-returnable list (which is NOT obvious), since it is run by gas. However, I never even took it out of the box so I dont see why I shouldnt have been able to return it. Had I known all this when I was looking at it online I never would have ordered it. ... show more

  • Must have for larger sprinklers!
Pattern Name: Pump Style: 70-GPM 2-Inch High Pressure Pump
The media could not be loaded. Amazing pressure. I used it with about 100’ of 2” hose and connected it to a 1.1/4” sprinkler and was surprised how big of an improvement if was compared to using my 2” trash pump. Sprinkler sprays a diameter of 150’, but I feel this pump could do more and is limited by my sprinkler. Amazing product at a great price. Will update in a year. ... show more
