  • Bargain sauna with a few minor inconveniences
I think this is a great sauna with a few drawbacks. Here is some additional information for those considering: As others have noted, this is not really that ease to fold and store. On the other hand, this seems like higher quality than the pop-up one that is available, so worth the trade off that it takes up a good portion of my bathroom. I agonized over buying a traditional sauna but worried that my husband would tease me if it ended up being an expensive purchase that was never used. Also, I couldn't decide between infrared or traditional, steam or dry, etc, etc. And I wondered if I would really use it that often if it took time to heat up and I needed to go into the basement or garage, turn it on, come back 20 minutes later, etc. etc. All in all, I think this is the perfect sauna for someone just starting out. On the plus side: It takes almost no time at all to heat up. I turn it on, leave it for a few minutes with a towel over the opening, and it's ready to go. As an incredibly busy working mom, this is invaluable. I can spend 5 minutes in the sauna, step over to the cold shower, and voila! Also, I find that I actually really like that I can sit in the sauna all the way or pop my head out. I imagine they do not advertise that you can sit inside because it gets really, really hot and yes, I've burned myself on the steam even while trying to be extra careful. I would also point out that the lowest part of your body doesn't get that hot. But after a few minutes of total heat, I'll sometimes put my plastic stool back in and sit with my head out. It's nice to have both options. On the negative side, it gets very, very hot, and it's difficult without manually opening slits and losing A LOT of heat to adjust it. I sort of wish there were different heat choices, but this might be pretty hard with the use of steam as the sole source of heat. I also have been frustrated at how to direct the valves to make the steam comfortable. It usually moves right up my spinal column as I sit on a stool. Not ideal, but not the end of the world. On the positive side, the super heat element means that I take super fast saunas. Again, as a busy mom, this is actually somewhat of a plus. I don't feel guilty about all the energy heating up a full-sized sauna. And it means that I'm incorporating it into my day quite easily. Were I to have the luxury of taking long warmish saunas, it probably would be more frustrating. I wonder at how hot it does get and this is likely a safety factor for anyone who sits inside. One can go quickly from hot to too hot, so one needs to be careful. Also, the container with water does not turn off when the water runs out, so you need to make sure you don't keep running it when you no longer feel heat or steam. And, the first time I left the container with a bit of water, mold grew inside. Now, I'm very careful about propping the lid open when I'm done. It's bulky, it's ugly, but it's fast and super hot. I find just 5 minutes is a great way to start or end my day. Also, I don't feel guilty when I sub in a bath, whereas I might feel I really should "take a sauna" if I'd spent $$$. All in all, a great purchase, and I will feel I will have gotten my money's worth if it last a year. As for cleaning, it is a bit tricky. But if you are not in a tropical humid climate, you may be able to do as I do and leave it open to dry out, which it does very, very quickly. Then you would need to wash it down every so often, but not every day. One last remark--some people note that they sweat a lot. But actually, it's very hard to tell how much is one's sweat and how much is all the steam settling on one. As an experiment, I brought in my hairbrush, and it was soaked in seconds. So, not sure whether people are sweating as much as they think. On the other hand, I do get pretty thirsty after only 5 minutes, so something's happening. A bargain, and if they were ever to have an improved version with a better foldable feature, better directionality on the valves, an automatic cutoff if water runs out, and most importantly, better control of temperature, I would buy a second! ... show more

  • Great Steamer - worth the money!
I researched these steamers for a week and finally narrowed it down to this one. After my first attempt at ordering (which didn't go so well - the product was never sent to me, it got lost in shipping somewhere so I had to reorder...I will say there was a major set of snow storms around the time the order was placed so that very well could have been the reason for delay but I am not sure exactly) I finally received my product within a couple of days after re-order. It came in one box and when opened was neatly packaged. All contents were in there and intact. It did come with instructions that were fairly easy to follow. It was not easy to put together though. After many cuss words and finally asking for help from my son to hold it up while I put the frame together it was assembled in about 45 minutes. the poles(pvc pipe) did not seem to want to stay together and would collapse quite often. Once all put together and the fabric enclosed over the frame it actually stood up just fine. I'm 5'5" and sat comfortably in it. The steamer has worked great everytime I have used it (3-4 times a week about 45 minutes at a time) I put hot water in to start which seems to help it get steam quicker - No fill line so I just leave a couple inches of space from top for water to boil. It has not run out of water on me yet even running for an hour. It heats up(with hot water to start) I would say in 10 minutes. It gets very steamy in there - so much that sometimes I have to open the arm holes for a little bit to cool off some. I am dripping with sweat when done - not sure how much of that is just water vapor from the steamer though! The hole for the steam to come out is in the back and I think it adequately and evenly circulates within the box. I put a towel around my neck, on the chair and at the base of the box to catch the sweat. It is imperative that you wipe this down and let it air out after each time you use it - it will stink horribly if you don't! I have lost a few pounds from using this steamer but I am also dieting and exercising so I am not sure how much it is contributing to my weight loss. I do feel better after I use it and it has helped moisturize my skin this winter. I would definitely recommend this steamer and am hoping it lasts me for a long time before anything breaks(knock on wood) Reason I gave it 4 stars was due to original shipping issues and it being a pain in the butt to assemble. ... show more

  • Not too bad for the cost - There are some factors to be aware of
So overall, for the price this thing isn't too bad. It def gets hot enough and it works. There are a few problems with it design wise that should be noted on your purchase. Cleaning is a major issue with this as over time lets face it, its basically a living petri dish in your home. They do not recommend using any cleaning supplies on it which makes it a bit sketchy. Secondly the port where the heat comes in you had better make sure your skin gets nowhere near this or you are going to catch a serious burn (it will match mine). Ideally there should be more of a dispensed heat aspect to it to prevent this, however if you plan to sit inside of it without the use of a chair or stool this is going to happen to you eventually. Other than the lack of cleanliness and severe burns, its a good product! ... show more

  • Great for fascia blasting
I use this to heat up for fascia blasting and it works like a charm. I actually just get in and sit on the floor. That way my face and neck get the benefit as well. It takes about 20 minutes for it to really heat up but boy does it get hot in there. I think this works really well and it was a great price for one of these little saunas. I always feel better afterwards too! ... show more
