If my living room could talk, it would say, “Thank you for finally giving me a personality.” This Electric Fireplace is, without question, the best fake fire I’ve ever owned—and I’ve owned exactly one, but still, it’s a fierce competitor for “coziest thing in my house.” Let’s start with the looks: it’s adorable. Like a tiny wood stove that decided to go corporate. The 3D flame effect is surprisingly convincing—so much so that my dog barked at it the first night and refused to lay down near it until I “introduced” them. The flames flicker, dance, and make me feel like I live in a Hallmark movie, minus the unrealistic love interest and suspiciously perfect snow. Functionally, it’s great. It warms up my space fast enough that I started considering charging people admission to sit near it. The safety features mean I can forget to turn it off (hypothetically, of course…) without fear of burning down the house. And it’s compact enough to tuck in a corner, yet powerful enough to make me question why I ever bothered with a regular space heater that just looked like a beige toaster. Bonus: the controls are so simple, even my tech-challenged dad figured it out in one try. I can go from “pleasant autumn glow” to “Sahara desert heat” in seconds. Honestly, my only complaint is that I now feel morally obligated to get a fake mug of cocoa and a flannel blanket every time I turn it on. Five stars for turning my basic home office into a cozy cabin retreat—with zero firewood, zero effort, and maximum vibes.

I like this 19-inch version of the Dumos electric fireplace because it's able to fit into smaller spaces. The flame effect is attractive and realistic, and you can use it with or without heat. Everything works as it should and the unit seems quality-made and well-finished. There is no remote control on this smaller model, which is fine with me as I don't need another remote to keep track of. You control everything with easy-to-use knobs on the side of the fireplace. There's one control that allows you to select flame effect only, low heat (750 watts), or high heat (1500 watts), and another knob that is a thermostat that will cycle the unit on and off in response to the room temperature. One small quirk is you have to make sure the thermostat is turned up even if you want the flame effect only without heat. No problem, but it could be confusing to someone using the fireplace for the first time as it wouldn't come on if the thermostat was set too low. The only assembly needed is to attach the four legs to the bottom of the fireplace. There are three screws for each leg and it only takes a few minutes to put them in. The amount of heat you get with this electric fireplace is impressive even on the low heat setting. Ideal for cool evenings when it's a little chilly in the house but you don't need to turn the main heating system on. And you can enjoy the look of the flame effect year-round, even when you don't need heat.

Be aware that the small one is very small, BUT it looks cute, and it heated the small bedroom very quickly! The legs are plastic. It is not high end, but it was only $59. As long as you understand what you are purchasing, this is a good buy. Four stars only due to the plastic legs and size, But it fits my needs, and I like it.

I am enjoying using this “electric fireplace” as a space heater in my cold house. During the winter I have to use space heaters in several rooms of my house to augment the heat pump, which does not seem to fully heat the house. Those traditional space heaters work, but they look distracting amongst otherwise furniture. This electric fireplace takes the place of at least one, if not two, traditional space heaters. The unit uses the same time of heating elements and a blower like any other space heater, but has a faux fireplace with glowing embers and fake flames to disguise the heating elements. That sounds potentially “cheesy” but it works. The unit produces plenty of heat, has a timer and temperature controls, and heats up the entire downstairs of my house (it’s a townhouse so relatively narrow and only two rooms). Does the flame look entirely real? Not really but it could fool you at first glance. It’s a good looking unit that will blend into your room’s decor much better than a traditional space heater. And, when not in use, its flat top makes for extra space for other things. I like it.
