You put this in your beard and you smell like the lumberjack that's going to take on the world. It smells sort of like trees, in a good way. The texture and everything is nice. It definitely helps moisturize. Until now, I've used a drop of Jojoba oil in my hair after showering, but I was still getting some beard dandruff and sometimes just get itchy. All that has been solved. Even if I don't wash my facial hair for a few days, it doesn't get dry, just use this right after you wash/dry your face. Uhmm last thing. If you buy this in the summer, like me, and it's 100 degrees outside, but you're excited to check it out. DON'T just open it up right away. Mine basically turned into liquid and spilled out on the floor when I opened it. Can’t stop using it. Love the smell and how easy it is to applicate. If I see it I buy it. Maybe, just maybe I have a little stack of this scent of balm in a corner of a cupboard somewhere, maybe. I keep buying different brands and scents but nothing can compare to this one. It’s personal of course like taste so you have to try it for yourself.. Don’t tell anyone but I believe that if you are a fan of sawdust and ranginess you'll love this sent. That’s my opinion again of course. ... show more

This is the first beard balm to actually soften my beard. I have course, wiry, curly beard hair, and after three days of use I have found that my beard actually feels softer and more like the hair on my head. I have also noticed my curly hair is looking a bit straighter, more wavy, and I believe it’s because of how moisturizing the balm is. The scent is not for people who are sensitive to intense smells. It’s a pleasant and very enjoyable smell, but it is a bit overpowering. If they reworked the formula to just reduce the intensity of the fragrance by 10-20%, I think everyone would appreciate it. I haven’t tried their other scents, but those may be a bit more mild than this one. If you want a softer beard, you have to give this product a try. I am beyond pleased with the results I’ve gotten from using it. The quantity you get is also great for the price. P.S. Their shaving cream (green tube) is wonderful too. It’s actually what drove me to try their other products. The two products I’ve tried have made me a newly-loyal customer. ... show more

I've used a few types of beard balms so far. My normal Honest Amish brand is good and keeps your beard really soft but stays oily all day, and doesn't give you much staying power for crazy hairs. Smooth Viking doesn't do anything for me but smell for a little bit. It rubs in and its like it was never there after a short time. This stuff keeps your beard soft but seems to have some wax or something to help you shape your beard. It doesn't stay as oily as Honest Amish through the day. The smell is good on both versions I've tried so far, and I think that's all they make. I'm switching over full time from the Honest Amish that I've used for the last few years. ... show more

I have been able to purchase this locally and it's been bang on. Smells amazing and I would get compliments on it at work all the time. Lately I haven't been able to find it local so I purchased it through Amazon. Consistency and smell is definitely off. I bought 4 containers and every one is not close to what I have purchased previous. My 8 year old son agreed it didn't smell the same.
