I was specifically looking for as compact a hood as possible since I was putting a microwave above it. This model is just 4 inches high. Most units are at least 6 inches. I mounted it 20 inches above the stove cook top to a one inch MDF board which I screwed into my cabinets. I needed the board for two reason. One, my cabinets are just a little further apart than the width of the hood. And two, I needed a shelf for the microwave to sit on. So the microwave is just 25 inches above the stove and very reachable. And ,no, I do not have cabinets above the stove. This is the black model. It is very sleek looking. I ordered the brushed silver and it was very sharp angled so I returned it. This is nice and smoothly rounded in the front. Love the look.

It arrived dented along the top. I was disappointed, but my contractor and I think I will be only one who knows that. We had to install pretty quickly, or I would have returned it for an undented one. I like the sleek style, the black color, and the three dishwasher safe filters.

Product came with dents (most of which were repaired), despite good packaging. Installation was easy and fan function is very good. The lighting is not very bright though.

It's a good looking hood and easy to install but the suction performs very poorly. I cooked some eggs and bacon and my entire three story house was filled with the smell of bacon and the kitchen area was filled with smoke. The next day I tried with cooking a steak, results were not good either. My last range hood was 15 years old and honestly did a better job than this. I can literally see 90% of the smoke going around the hood instead of inside the vents. I have it on high speed and it's just abysmal performance. I have it installed in ductless mode with the recommended carbon filter. I followed all the instructions and I am sure it was properly set up. I don't know how it works with a duct but this is my experience in ductless mode.
