Nice unit, not so easy to install without tools and experience

I bought this to add to the bedroom. The instructions were very thorough with lots of installation hints which was nice since I had never installed one by myself before. A few minor issues such as the wall layout for my model was wrong so I had to figure out where to drill the hole myself. The through the wall hole size that was shown was also a good 3/4" too big, but that helped when installing it later since it did not quite line up right. All the components seem high quality and durable, made in china of course. Be sure to use the special refrigerant lubricant/sealer, RT201B Nylog Gasket/Thread Sealant available on Amazon, on the flange connections when installing the copper tubing, it really does help prevent leaks which are the biggest issue with these units. That is not mentioned in the instructions BTW. Once installed, the unit is super quiet both inside and outside, works fast and seems efficient. The heat function is great, can't wait to try it this winter. Be aware that unless an HVAC contractor installs it, there is no warranty. You will need some special tools such as a calibrated digital torque wrench to the tighten the connections properly, a vacuum pump to clear the lines and possibly some copper pipe flange tools if you need to change the length. Overall it is a somewhat challenging do-it-yourself project unless you have some hvac experience and tools handy. I would recommend buy the plastic covers for the lines as shown in the picture, gives a cleaner and more secure finish. Of course the next one would be easy......... ... show more

Effectiveness and Quietness

This unit is super quiet inside and out. First and foremost. I'm using it to cool a single car (insulated) garage 11W X 19L X 10H in Virginia. It's now August and on a couple of 90 plus days this unit has cooled the space completely off. I set it at about 74 degrees on vertical swing and I was really impressed. I use this garage for my man cave its so cool in there it keeps my wife out lol 🤣. (Added Bonus) like I said super quiet while speaking or watching the game. Truly all you notice is the cold air. I'm gonna insulate the garage door for the winter to help hold in the heat. So I will give an update on that once the weather breaks. ( No rush). Insulation I can't fairly judge. A good friend of mines is H-vac tech and we meaning he installed it. It took about 4 hours. Had he not been there I think I would of called some to hook up the 220v line but after seeing it everything else seemed doable. We also installed the pipe cover and a stand for the unit. Well worth the effort

Very quiet. Reasonably easy to install about 16 hours. Fit my application perfectly. I live in a household that requires someone to be sleeping during daylight hours and is was impossible to keep the bedroom cool in the California summer. So I installed this into an exterior wall of a 300 Sqft room and was hopeful. Wow, does it work well. From what I can tell it uses about 1KW of energy to get the room cool then about 200W after that to maintain it. I had to buy several tools on the HVAC side of the install and the job came to about $900. I really do not plan on using the heat pump but it is part of the package. The unit came with the tubing and drain tubes along with a sleeve for the wall. I filled the void with backer rod but will have to do something a bit more bug and weather tight. Don't Be Fooled by Cooper & Hunter: A Disappointing Experience with their AC/Heating System I was thrilled to purchase the Cooper & Hunter 9,000 BTU, 230V, 21.5 SEER Ductless Mini Split AC/Heating System MIA Series at a great price. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when I encountered multiple issues with the product. First, the circuit board of the unit malfunctioned, causing an error code PC 04. After contacting their service technician, they sent a replacement circuit board. During this time, I was reminded to register the machine for warranty purposes. But the problems didn't stop there. Upon installing the new circuit board, a loud clanging sound started coming from the outside unit. I contacted customer service, but was left on hold for a full hour before receiving assistance. They suggested that the condenser might have been affected by the faulty circuit board. To my surprise, when I mentioned the voltage reading of 247 volts, I was informed that the unit is not designed to handle anything over 230 volts. The company claimed it was an installation error and voided the warranty, refusing to replace the compressor or the entire unit. Unsatisfied with their response, I had both my electrician and the city power company confirm that the voltage was indeed within the normal range. Both certified A/C and Electrical contractors, with a combined experience of 60 years, agree that Cooper & Hunter's refusal to honor the warranty is unjustifiable. They state that the unit should be capable of functioning within a 10%-15% fluctuation of voltage, just like any other installation they have done. Don't fall victim to Cooper & Hunter's deceptive tactics. Learn from my disappointing experience and avoid purchasing their products. ... show more

I am utterly shocked at how good this thing is for the price

I installed this in my outdoor workshop for heating and cooling. Not only does it do agreat job at both of those things, but it does it very quietly. The indoor unit us somwhere between a whoosh and a whisper but what's really mind blowing is how quiet the outdoor compressor is. I was worried about annoying my neighbors, but he can't even hear it at all from his back yard. None of that loud compressor noise we all associate with AC units. The variable speed system has the perfect hysteresis curve built in so it ramps up and down slowly for maximum comfort. The thermostat is built into the remote so make sure the unit isn't blowing directly on the remote or the fan speed will oscillate. It has lots of great modes including a freeze protection mode so I won't need to worry about my paints and finishes freezing up on cold nights but also no need to heat the place when I'm not using it. Honestly I don't know any reason to have a big expensive central HVAC on the whole home with a 5 digit price tag when you could deploy a fleet of these at half the cost and have intelligent per room controls. Installation is increidibly easy too since it's pre filled. Just connect everything and go. In CA law requires you to have a provessional licensed HVAC technican install it, but if you state doesn't require that, it's so easy that a handy homeowner could DIY. ... show more
