  • This will not heat the building, just the animal.
Size: chicken coop heater
This will not work to stand freely on its own. The screws that come with it will strip before it can be fully screwed into the unit. Can only be hung. Your chickens will knock it down as it can not have a fully grown chicken stand on it, then jump off without the unit falling. I will purchase this item again as it does what it needs. The birds stand by it to stay warm. It is easy to clean. But remember to not use the stands. You will be let down. ... show more

  • Great quality
The media could not be loaded. Very impressed with the quality of this product for the price. It even came with a hole saw for installation. Thick PVC, rubber gasket. The directions don't say how high from the bottom of the bucket I cut the holes so I left them up a couple inches and will place the bucket on bricks and see where it is comfortable for my chickens. ... show more

  • Waste of money
Size: chicken coop heater
I was hopeful as well as skeptical that this thing would work... skeptical won, the concept of it is great "IF" it actually radiated any kind of heat. Ran for 30 minutes, only heat felt was 1 inch away from it. It is more like a heating pad. This will NOT HEAT YOUR COOP! Not even alittle bit. I Don't recommend wasting your money. I'll stick with my heat lamp, dangerous but at least it puts out some heat. ... show more

  • Good option for the chicken coop
We screwed this down on the chicken coop floor. On the feet that you attach to the heating board are extra holes on each end to put screw through for this purpose. This keeps it stable and does not allow the chickens to tip it over. It also comes with some clips for hanging but I personally wouldn’t trust these and if you were going to hang it, I would find a more solid way to do so. There is a switch on each side of the board to turn it on. You need to turn both on to have both sides heat up or you can just have one side on which may be a good option for safety purpose if it is too close to a wall or other object. The heater walls get very hot and not something I would touch when it is on or want my chickens to touch and this was a worry for me that they could get burned. However, the chickens seem to know to stand by it and not right against it. We are only turning this on when it is very cold. Like less than 20 degrees. We don’t want our chickens getting too use to heat since heat won’t help them acclimate to the cold and they will just stay in the coop all day and night by the heater instead of going out in their covered run for some exercise. Wind and humidity are more dangerous for a chicken then cold is. This is nice to have for those cold days and nights which are too often here in the Midwest. ... show more

  • Can help heat a coop...
I see this as a supplemental heat source, as I do all coop heaters, honestly. A properly ventilated coop is going to allow warm air out, so this is t going to make a cold wooden box toasty. But it does provide heat on both sides and the panels get really hot. My issue is that it doesn't feel that sturdy when the feet are attached (some assembly required), which was easy enough to do. I don't have the option of attaching them to the floor as someone else suggested & do not have the space to hang the whole thing from the ceiling. I have a different one-sided heater/brooder that has wide feet and a variety of ways to set it up and use, and would have liked this to have something similar. It does warm the air and on a cold night will likely keep my chickens warmer than they would be without it. Hens are wearing little down jackets already so the wind is worse for them than cold except for their feet and waddles. It is useful but beware how you install and what kind of bedding you use. ... show more
