Best portable air conditioner I’ve ever owned!

I live in a beach city in SoCal, and the houses built here don’t have air conditioning so I’ve always had to rely on portable ACs for really hot days. It has been so warm and humid lately and my other portable AC just quit working on me at the worst possible time. I went to the local stores here and they were just way overly priced for such low BTU units. I have been researching a lot about how dual hoses are a lot better at cooling and more efficient while at the same time not causing any pressure issues in the house. I ordered this Gasbye dual hose 12k BTU and it was delivered very quickly. I let it sit for 24 hours as recommended. The first night i used it and all i can say is wow. This AC is amazing! It was easy to set up and all of the components just feel so premium compared to the other brands I’ve owned in the past. It cools down my large bedroom very quickly and it runs so quietly! Really amazing performance! The unit is about the same size as my old one that broke but this one is a little heavier. But it is on wheels and easy to roll around to where you need it. The remote works well but i rarely use it. I tend to just use the buttons on the machine which look good along with the lcd screen and are easy to use. I’m so glad i ordered this portable ac. Quiet and Very Cool!

We are enjoying the cool air and quiet operation of the Gasbye 10000 AC unit during these summer months to keep our living room comfortable. So far the unit is working as designed. The unit was relatively easy to install and we appreciated clear instructions as well as the included water drain hose. Also found the included air venting hose connections well thought out. The two hose system seems to be way better than our window AC unit in our bedroom and way less noisy. We also emailed and took advantage of Gasbye free extended 3 year warranty offer - little piece of mind. (3 years total form day of purchase) I also purchase an air vent insulating hose cover for the units heat exhaust hose to keep it from transferring heat back into the room. The exhaust hose can get warm when unit is under a continuous cool down load. Suggestions I mentioned in my email to the company for future units is to back light the entire control panel so the text and symbols are readable in the evening when room is darker. The “power on” button should remain lit continuously. The remote works alright and does have a lighted LED screen but could have a stronger signal. We have notice you mostly need to be standing in front of the unit for the remote signal to be received by the unit. It gets a bit sketchy if you are standing or sitting off to one side, although we have found a way to bounce the remote signal off the walls of the living room back to the unit which does work most of the time. Of course that would depend on your room configuration. We corresponded these suggestions to Gasbye and they were very receptive. Emailed me back and said they had been considering these improvements already. Seems like a very competent company to deal with, very refreshing. Great Unit, with Caveats (6+ months of heavy use)

Long Story Short: Probably the highest value portable A/C unit on Amazon, with a couple minor drawbacks. Technology Connections on YouTube hasn’t reviewed this unit yet (as of writing), but I think most "A/C Experts" would prefer this design over most other portable A/C units. Long Story Long: We used this unit heavily (day/night) throughout a hot & humid Midwest summer. The windows in the room we needed to cool are really odd sizes, so we couldn't find a good window unit to fit. We had to buy a portable unit, but we wanted to make sure it was a dual hose unit for maximum efficiency (ideally with an inverter mode) - this unit checked those boxes. Honestly I was skeptical upfront because I saw all the great reviews here, but I ran it through a couple review checkers and that raised a slight red flag. Nonetheless, I bought the unit and I would do so again - as the title would imply, it works really well but with some caveats. Overall it deserves a solid 5 star rating because it’s the best on Amazon, but not because it is perfect. Pros: 1) Great customer service. One of the hoses I received didn’t fully snap into the window bracket, so they mailed me a replacement right away at no charge. 2) Pumps out lots of ice cold air 3) It's hard to quantity this exactly, but it seems to run efficiently. Functionally, the dual hose system works well, there is no negative pressure in the room, and the Inverter mode seems to operate as advertised, so it would seem that this is much more efficient than other portable AC setups. Caveats (not really ‘Cons’): 1) Another review said that the evaporation pan never overfilled - same here, but Gasbye recommends that you manually drain the unit every 12 hours to avoid mold. So, you need to make sure a hose and catch bin are setup for condensate, and it fills up quick which means constant emptying. None of this is the fault of this unit, that’s just the nature of portable AC’s. The water has to go somewhere - either that, or have damp cold air. No joke, on particularly humid summer days, we were emptying a 1 gallon water jug 4-5x a day. You don’t want that water to just sit in the evaporation tray, it’ll just add moisture to the air you’re trying to cool. 2) VERY IMPORTANT: You have to make sure to insulate the pipes - they are made of a really thin uninsulated plastic material. Again, that’s not this unit’s fault, that’s standard for portable units. But adding insulated sleeves boosts efficiency by a TON. There are pipe insulation sleeves available for sale here on Amazon - like I've said, it makes a huge difference for any portable AC unit. 3) Make sure you email Gasbye to setup the 3 year warranty. Cons: 1) Confirming what others have said about the temperature control - it is wildly inaccurate. We had two digital thermometers in the room, and confirmed that when the unit is set to 72°, it actually stays around 68°. And when it’s set to 73°, it hovers around 74.5°. A mild annoyance for sure, but not a dealbreaker beacuse you 2) The remote doesn’t work very well. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be quite common. Oh well, not a big deal. If Gasbye fixed these two (relatively insignificant) Cons, it’d be a perfect portable A/C. Sidenote: We haven’t paid close attention to the volume level since we don’t really care too much about that, but it isn’t obnoxiously loud. ... show more

Update: I have had this for one year now, unit cools very well same thing applying that I said initially, I did end up getting a cover for one of the vent hoses that gets really warm. It’s helped with cool but I did it mostly because the unit doesn’t hold the temperature I set as well as I would like. I have had many different units and this one just varies temp the most. And it’s not consistent about it. Sometimes it’s set at 70 and will drop the temp to 66 in the room other times it might let it get up to 70. This is very noticeable to us in our home. But on the positive it works great at keeping my place cool. And it’s really quite for the size vs others I own. Again customers service is really good. I would have given 5 start if it held temp better and how the hose connects to the window part. So I took it down last fall put it back up this year and still using the window kit from my previous unit. Otherwise the unit works great and blows the coldest air out of 10 different ones I have owned. I would still recommend this unit, but maybe with the new 2026 update the addressed the hose connection? Either way it will cool down my 1,000 square foot area down to 68° when it’s 103 outside for reference. I have had this unit one week so I can’t speak to longevity yet. But some good and bad thing. Yeah I read all the reviews before purchasing and it was down to this a the unit I had purchased previously that lasted 8 years and is more well know. Addressing the window kit, the quality is very typical of others, I have purchased 6 different brands of ac units over the past 10 years. The unit itself cools very well and is very quiet. I have had one that blows more air but this is probably the coldest air of any. It seems like it will be a more efficient unit compared to others due to the inverter. I’m using it to cool down a living room and kitchen so about 1,000 sqf. It does it quite well and easily. I had some issues and reached out to the manufacturer before writing this. They have a sticker on the unit to contact them for anything. I will say the customer service was very good they responded to me very quickly and addressed all my issues. I would recommend this unit to anyone. I could create a long list of things I like but it’s easy to point out what I don’t. First the power cord and exhaust/inlet hoses are all shorter than others units I have had by about 1-2 feet. The way the hoses attach to the window partition is kinda a bad design only because if you want to disconnect them you need to from the outside and I have a screen on my window, so I would have to remove everything in order to disconnect a hose. Not a deal breaker but definitely something worth considering. As someone else posted I also am having an issue keeping the room at a set temperature. All my AC units hold at whatever temp I set. I have several thermostats placed around. This unit will vary up to about 5 degrees at times. Sometimes it hold the temperature perfectly sometimes it goes down 2-3 below set temp then goes 2 above before turning on. 5 degrees is definitely noticeable when you’re used to always having your home at 68 year round. But overall I’d still say it’s a good unit because it can cool down a place very well, it’s very quiet, and seems to be more efficient than others I have had. And the customer support was excellent. I fell like that are really trying to back this unit up and listen to the customers. Here’s a picture of my old unit I’m replacing next to this new one. Big note: Make sure the circuit breaker for the room you’re putting the cooler in is rated for 15–20 amps. The dual-hose setup is awesome because it exhausts the hot air outside while bringing in fresh air for better cooling. Setting it up wasn’t too much of a hassle either. Fantastic A/C

This machine is the BOMB!! I love it! It's quiet, and it cools my bedroom in a hurry. I like my bedroom as cool as I can get it at night. I turn this A/C on about 2 hours before I go to bed, and my room is 61° for sleep. I turn it off when I get up in the morning. I had a window unit in that room for about 8 years that ran 24/7 all year round. Its minimum temp was 66°, and in summer it only kept the room at 68 or 69°; this one's minimum is 61°, but at night, it does get down to 60°, which is perfect. It was pretty easy to set up, except my window is metal everywhere, so the screws wouldn't work to hold the plate in with the holes for the 2 hoses. So I had to get inventive. I have it set on a small table, and the hoses go straight to the window plate with no bends. I bought the insulation for the hoses, but I really don't need it. The exhaust hose gets a little bit warm, but nothing that would require insulation. As the summer heats up, I might need it later; we'll see. I would highly recommend this unit. It's a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for usually. The dual hoses on this unit make it much more effective and less costly to run. ... show more

Customer for Life!

We had a problem with our home AC system in May 2025, so to survive the Florida heat and humidity until it could be repaired, I researched portable AC units and happened upon this Gasbye model that had very good reviews and impressive features. Two vent hoses rather than one, 14,000 BTUs, an energy saving inverter, and no manual draining of condensation. It had everything we needed and at a good price. It worked like a trooper until our home system was repaired, and because it was so energy efficient, we lowered the thermostat on our whole home system to 77° and used it for supplemental targeted cooling in the areas we spent most of our time. We actually ended up with lower electric bills for an entire year! Fast forward 14 months, after essentially constant use, my unit was still cooling like it was brand new, but it developed a problem with the system that evaporates the condensation to eliminate the need for manual draining. I contacted Gasbye support about warranty coverage and received an immediate response (messaged them on Sunday and had a response by early Monday morning). I explained the problem and provided the needed documentation, and now, on Wednesday, there is a brand new replacement unit on my doorstep! Unbelievable customer support! I was already extremely happy with the quality of their product, but this stellar customer service and warranty replacement is beyond amazing. I am a customer for life. And they have a brand new version of my model right now at a great price, so I may have to pick up another one for my new catio area. Thanks, Gasbye! ... show more
