Installed these in my 2009 Tacoma along with a set of ds18 tweeters when i updated the head unit. Paired with metra adapters they fit perfectly in the doors with the stock door panel/covers. Sound is unbelievable with deep base and clear mids. They are loud and clear across the sound spectrum.

It is as if they are made for the stock 3.5" speaker brackets. You will need to drill the 4 holes for the screws since the mounting points are not the same as the stock stuff, but there is enough material in the stock brackets that you can just drill small holes and the speaker will screw in without a hassle. I was even able to reuse the wires that came off of the stock speaker plug so i didn't need to cut any wires on the harness side. You will have to cut off the speaker wires from the speaker, but if you ever wanted to return it to stock you can just buy the stock speakers with the brackets used from somewhere out there, I'm sure. Just make sure you run some felt or foam tape around the edges and over the screws, so they don't vibrate against the door panel. Now sound quality wise, these are far, far better than the stock stuff. They output really nice subtle treble and have far better midrange sound than the stock speakers the stock speakers totally blow out the upper midrange, but these tone it down to perfection. I prefer these over the infinity reference speakers I had before mainly because the treble isn't super blown out because these don't have a tweeter on them, so the highs are quieter, which is fine since there is a tweeter nearby in the a-pillar to make up for that. Really happy with these and if you're also looking for an upgrade over stock that isn't going to snap your wallet in half, get these things. I wanted some speakers for my dash that were not 2 way, with high pitched, ear piercing tweeters. When I've had 2 ways up there in the past the sound stage is destroyed. It's overwhelming and improperly balanced. I put components in my doors and have these in the dash on a separate 50 watt per channel amp and EQ, with bass frequencies turned down, to raise the sound stage up and just fill in the vocals and highs, without screaming at me. Finding this size speaker without a tweeter at a decent price is tough. Plus, these are in the most sun exposure so I'm hoping the kevlar material will hold up nicely compared to other materials. Some modifications were required, including making new mounts. Pictures show comparison for stock speakers and these upgrades. Huge improvement. Overall I am very happy with them. ... show more

They have always got a clean not clipped signal and they are not being over powered, I bought them in February and one already failed. The coil is compely done, I could hear it getting scratchy sounding when I turned it up at all, now it's just like the coil fell apart, so done with this company, this isn't the first product from them to fail. ... show more
