I've had a few shallow subs from different brands before. Kicker, Rockford Fosgate and other brands. I recently had the Kicker CompVT CVT122 in my single cab truck with the sub box behind the seats and they sounded pretty good. People that heard them were surprised at the sound they put out. But I still wasn't satisfied with them because I could tell at high volumes, they needed more airspace. So I took a chance with the DS18 shallow subs after doing some research. First off, they handle the power they say. I'm doing 600 rms to each and they take it well. Second, the sound quality is amazing. They reproduce bass very well. And third, they actually hit like normal sized subs and don't sound like shallows. I'm very happy with these and highly recommend them to anyone looking for real bass but don't have the space for larger sized subs. ... show more

Considered a higher end speaker/sub with a higher cost and can’t even supply the screws to attach to box or mounting tape. I paid $100 less for a pioneer that sounds just as good and came with all the hardware.

I needed a shallow mount subwoofer for my application in my Buick Roadmaster limited. I built a sealed small box enclosure that fit my car and I decided to give this a try. It performs quite well and gives good balance to my aftermarket stereo system and gives a commanding low frequency addition that makes my stereo sound awesome. I'm running 4 pak Kenwood concert series 6x9 in the rear deck and 6.5 Kenwood concert series in the doors on amplifiers that deliver 100+ watts full range to each full range speaker. That single 10" shallow sub with sub amp jams pretty good with the rest of it. I normally don't listen to high volume levels, but it's sound quality is exactly what I want. Good subwoofer to fill out lows in a complete full range car audio system. It's definitely not a competition subwoofer. Good performance with great value. ... show more
