I bought these for some weird battery powered camping/party box project. The mids were pretty straightforward to install but the tweeters were kind of a pain to figure out the shape and size of the hole needed, given the placement of the connectors and the capacitor soldered on one side. Not too bad though. My opinion on the sound quality is that they are better suited for loud projected music than hi-fi listening at low levels. That's great for my application and for cars. At lower levels, you can kind of hear the acoustics of the paper cone in the vocals, which could also be a shortcoming of my box as well. It sounds tight and crisp when turned up, which is what I designed this for. There wasn't a lot of dispersion on the mids until I added the grills. I wanted the dispersion because I have the speakers close together. The tweeters seemed to be a little more sensitive than the mids, but very good balance overall. I haven't needed equalization. I'm really happy with the choice. ... show more

All I'm going to say is this. Ive ran jbl(factory) jl audio and kicker ks 6.5 door components. I ran all 3 on a variety of amplifiers self and professional installs. This set of DS18s is running off the head unit alone (kenwood dm47s) and is able to match the bass coming from a pair of Skar svr 10inch 3200w subs with a Hifonics ZRX3200.1D Zeus Series 3200 Watts Class D Mono Block Amplifier. I will be adding a 2nd pair in the rear. Very, VERY happy. ... show more

Impressed with sound and power handling for price, they are HEAVY for components. Alot of custom work with tweeter install unless you have plenty of depth space behind door panel. The mids are deep too..... Actually very happy. Took a chance on DS 18 but pleased

First of all I love the packaging, how pretty they looking when opening, much heavier than the old aftermarket coaxial pioneer, around, kicker and etc. I did a test before installing, I was so MF blown away and that bullet tweeter is awesome

I give these a 5 star rating for quality, sound, construction. Just one small thing I was surprised this package didn’t come with. It does not come with any crimp on female spade connectors to plug to the speakers. And these do not come with any sort of speaker grille or cover. Just the speakers in a box and a manual. I mean even the cheapest set of door speakers at Walmart come with these things. Most probably wouldn’t use them, but I believe a cool set of DS-18 grilles would’ve looked cool. Superb top notch components though, can’t argue that!!! 👍🏼 ... show more
