If you have patience this is convenient but it does not take all the dust but it does help with about 60% of dust clean up , it's sturdy has good handles should last a while

    • A Little Heavier than Expected
This power sander is a little heavier than expected. It does make the project much easier. It is fully adjustable and takes some playing with it to determine the most comfortable way to hold it, depending on use wall or ceiling. Dust bag should be securely on end of hose before use. I like tools, I hate sanding this is great to me. ... show more

This is a well made tool, relatively easy to use and mostly effective. It does collect most of the dust but not all - but not sure there is any tool that gets it all. For a non-pro and fairly inexpensive tool, this is a great addition to your tool box if you are doing any kind of drywall work.

    • Need an Electric Drywall Sander...this could be the one for you!!
Immediately upon opening the box and looking at this drywall sander, I got the initial impression that it was a well-made tool, that would also perform well. After taking the unit out of the box and examining it, and feeling its heft, my initial impression was only strengthened. The unit came nicely packaged in the unbreakable form of styrofoam, almost plastic—like, so styrofoam was not all over the place after removing the unit from the box. The unit is constructed of a combination of aluminum, a heavier metal, and plastics, and feels quite durable and substantial. The drywall sander is very nicely designed; it unfolds open for use and folds in half when not in use for storage. The folding mechanism is solid and not flimsy. When unfolded for use, the drywall sander click-locks in place. The unit is designed to be used with two hands, as it has a trigger and hand grip at the end (back) of the unit, as well as, a second handle closer to the sanding head (at the front) for good balance and weight distribution. The sanding head is quite large, approximately nine inches in diameter, and covers a lot of territory in a short period of time. There are very large brush bristles surrounding the sanding head to help trap and contain dust when in use. There are also six dust suction holes in the middle of the sanding head that suction dust into the suction holes, and ultimately, into the included dust collection bag. The combination of the brush bristles, and suction holes, working together, help to suction and collect the vast majority of dust while sanding. Along these lines, the unit does a very good job at sanding and dust collection. I am in the process of redoing the home theater room in our basement that had several large holes (from running additional wiring) that needed sanding, and I must say, this sander came in handy and did an excellent job of sanding the areas and trapping the dust. I didn’t want to have to remove all the seating, the projector, and the screen in order to sand and keep those items dust-free, which is why I decided to give this sander a try. I left everything in place and I must say, there was virtually no dust on the projector or seats when I was finished sanding, and the dust collection bag had lots of dust inside of it when I was done. Sanding with the unit takes a little getting used to because the sanding head is adjustable, and has a screw lock mechanism that allows you to tilt the sanding heard to the degree you need for sanding, and then locking it in place. This feature really helps with ceilings because you can adjust the head to be parallel to the ceiling without having to have the entire unit held on an angle. This feature is also helpful when sanding slanted walls. The sander has a thumb wheel on the handle, conveniently located, that allows you to adjust between one of seven different power settings. There is also a trigger-lock that is awesome so you can sand for longer periods of time without having to hold the trigger. The unit came with a host of accessories, including, safety glasses, ear plugs, a dust mask that was not listed as N95 or KN95, so I decided to use my own dust mask. Although the unit appears to trap most of the dust, I would still recommend you wear a safety mask, as I’m sure there was more dust in the area than I could visually see with my eyes. The unit also came with a very nice supply of sandpaper with holes in the middle to align with the hols in the center of the sanding head. This is how the dust is suctioned up into the dust bag, i.e., through the dust holes in the sandpaper and sanding head. All in all, I was very happy with the drywall sander. The only two things I didn’t really like were the power cord and the fact that the unit is very heavy. I found the power cord long enough to reach every area of the room with plenty left over to spare, but I also found it somewhat annoying having to reposition it over and over. I finally found that throwing it over my shoulder and keeping it there help tremendously with cord-management. My other dislike was the sheer weight of the unit. I am 6’ tall and 257 pounds, and consider myself decently strong, and I found this unit to be a bit on the heavy-side and a bit difficult to hold over-head, or up-high, for long periods of time. I found my arms tiring rather quickly when sanding high-up on a wall or overhead on the ceiling. At times, the unit felt like I was holding a 30-pound weight over-head, no exaggeration. I was able to adjust to the weight because it is well-balanced, with excellent weight distribution, but if the manufacture could knock 10-15 pounds off of the unit, it would be a 5 out of 5. The unit does come with an additional extension arm unit, that you can attach to the main body, for longer reaches but I found the unit a bit more cumbersome with that additional attachment, so I didn’t use it. Others might very well find it useful. It is a personal choice whether to use it or not. Nonetheless, because of the sheer weight of the unit and the cord issues, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, I am happy with it and would consider it a good buy at its current price and would recommend it if you need an electric (corded) drywall sander. However, if you intend to use it over and over, and can afford a cordless sander with similar design and build quality, and lighter-weight, I might suggest going that route. ... show more

I used this to sand down the walls in several of the rooms in my house and it worked great. Most of the walls in my home are textured and I was wanting smooth walls. Works very well. The vacuum feature along with bag is an extremely helpful feature and works extremely well. Used this to redo popcorn ceilings. Yikes! It doesn’t vibrate as much as I thought it would and made quick work of our project. The extra sanding pads were nice and just enough to finish the job.
