Description

A MECH KEYS FAVORITE, NOW IN HIGH PROFILE The Drop ALT High-Profile is just like the original ALT, but now it comes with a tall CNC- aluminum case that covers the switches. Machined to have a 6-degree angle, the case is ergonomically crafted for a natural feel. Absent of function keys, the keyboard wastes no space—but it still has a full set of arrows and numerals. Thanks to the hot-swap switch sockets, it allows you to swap switches whenever you want with no soldering required. It’s also fully programmable via QMK, meaning you can assign macros or custom keybinds to every key. With dual USB-C connectors, the ALT High-Profile is outfitted with the latest connections. What’s more, it has customizable RGB backlighting and underlighting. Set it to a single color or light it up with a rainbow wave pattern. To enhance the backlighting, there are shine-through doubleshot PBT keycaps. THICKER, HEAVIER FRAME The ALT High-Profile is made from a large block of anodized aluminum, the keyboard is heavy enough to stay put when you're locked into an intense FPS match or hammering out an essay. RGB BACKLIGHTING Bring a colorful lightshow straight to your fingertips with customizable RGB backlighting and shine-through PBT keycaps. DOUBLESHOT SHINE-THROUGH PBT KEYCAPS Known for their durability, PBT keycaps are built for the long haul—and because the legends are shine-through, not printed, they never fade. SILVER & BLACK CASE COLORWAYS Set the stage for your keycaps. Choose from the sleek silver aluminum case or the stealthy black aluminum case to suit your style. Read more HOT-SWAPPABLE SWITCHES Ready to switch up your switches? Thanks to the ALT’s hot-swappable PCBA, you can swap in new switches on the fly—no soldering required. CUSTOMIZABLE LED LIGHTING Keep the lights off, dial in one of our presets, or customize each key color for a spectacular light show. Our keyboard case features a built-in diffuser to spread light evenly across the board. PROGRAM WITH QMK FIRMWARE Programming our keyboards is easy with QMK firmware. Whether you’re creating macros or altering the keymap, use the Drop online configurator to fine-tune your board for gaming, work, or play. Read more FULLY PROGRAMMABLE VIA QMK OPTIMIZED PER-KEY LIGHTING WITH MILLIONS OF COLORS The ALT High-Profile is optimized to deliver the most light possible through the keycaps. You’ll also have your choice from millions of different colors for every single key. So if you want the lighting to cycle through the entire spectrum, you’ve got it; if you prefer a two-toned look to match your setup, consider it done. There’s also a built-in translucent LED diffuser to minimize hotspots found in many other keyboards. Worried about flickering? Don’t be. The LEDs operate at a frequency of 100 Hz, so there won't be any visible flicker. THICKER, HEAVIER FRAME & HOT-SWAPPABLE SWITCHES The ALT High-Profile is made from a large block of anodized aluminum, which is known for its toughness and ability to hold a quality surface finish. Nearly twice as heavy as the original ALT, the keyboard is heavy enough to stay put when you're locked into an intense FPS match or hammering out an essay. Thanks to the built-in switch plate and hot-swappable PCB, the keyboard gives you the freedom to change out your switches whenever you like. Best of all? You don’t need to solder each switch. Just pop them in and they’re ready to go. The Cherry MX Blue has a distinct “click” sound when depressed beyond the tactile point, making it the loudest switch in the Cherry MX family. The separated slider construction also provides the highest tactile feedback. A good blend of typing and gaming. Cherry MX Brown is widely considered to be the best “middle-ground” switch. Its tactile bump, silent travel, and medium actuation force makes it a versatile switch. Primarily typing. The Halo Clear being with a slight preload and a lighter, sharper tactile bump than the Halo True. Halo Clears discourage bottom out, but not as strongly as the Halo True. A good blend of typing and gaming. Medium weight, smooth tactile action, and a purposefully light preload are intended to reduce jarring fingertip impacts during rapid typing. Moderately heavy spring to discourage bottom out. Intended for gaming. Essentially a shortened version of existing MX-style switches allowing for faster actuation. A good blend of typing and gaming. Kaihua Box White switches are IP56 waterproof and dust resistant switches. • I finally found the perfect mechanical keyboard for me
Color: Gray Style: Cherry MX Blue RGB
Over the years I've ended up collecting a lot of mechanical keyboards, everything from the Das Keyboard and Keychron K2 to the Anne Pro 2 and Logitech G Pro X. Nothing has ever quite felt as "right" to me as the Drop ALT high profile does. Production quality the keyboard is very solid. The machined aluminum frame is a nice touch, and gives the keyboard a lot of satisfying heft that you won't find elsewhere. There's an array of FN key options available to quickly change your backlight settings on the fly, including the light bar the runs along the bottom edge of the device, and media controls. For more advanced customisations you can do just about anything using Drop's web-based tool, although it's a little inconvenient having to flash the firmware every time you want to change things up. I lean towards the Cherry MX Blues in general, but these feel better, more solid and stable than any mechanical with true Blues I've used before. I love knowing that I can hotswap the switches out if my tastes every change or I want to try some other switches on for size (anyone got some spare holy pandas for me?) All in all, I genuinely adore this thing. Yes, it's expensive. But it's so worth it. For once I could see the LEDs on this dying out before I ever get bored with it. If you've got a passion for mechanical keyboards, I recommend giving this one a try. ... show more

  • I feel almost cheated that I have wasted years on cheap plastic boards of yonder
Color: Gray Style: Cherry MX Blue RGB
We interface though the keyboard, yet it gets little to no love. I feel almost cheated that I have wasted years on cheap plastic boards of yonder. This keyboard will either A) be the last keyboard that you will ever buy or B) be the first REAL keyboard, in a line of keyboards that you will eventually buy because you've been bitten by the custom keyboard bug. Let me explain. This keyboard is so robust and sturdy and heavy with aluminum that it feels premium beyond belief. The sound that the pure metal alloys and thick plastic keycap produce is a thick satisfying THOCK underneath your fingertips. pillowy springs, LED light shining through and and the mechanical feel of the whole experience is almost overwhelming. This keyboard will surely make you regret wasting years on cheap plastic. The Hot Swap ability of the pcb board opens up option to a niche world that you didn't even know existed. Keyboard switches with names like Holy Pandas and Zilents lure you in to the endless possibilities that are in the custom keyboard community. I already swapped my switches from the original cherry mx blues to more springy and smooth halo trues, and boy what a difference. I don't know what else I can say, it's made me more productive. Typing is truly a joy and no longer a chore . ... show more

  • Amazing!!!
Color: Black Style: Halo True
The media could not be loaded. I have a ton of customer keyboards and this is one of the best. The build is awesome. The keycaps that come with it are great too. I am not a huge RGB fan but this has a a lot that you can do with the rgb to customize it. if you know how to code then the qmk firmware is fantastic. It will let you do what ever you want with the pcb. If you don't know how to then the software that Drop has will get you about 95% of what qmk can do. Now for the Negatives - The stabilizers are some of the worst ever. extremely noisy and scratchy sounding. If you don't have a lot of experience purchasing aftermarket keycaps It may be hard to find the right set to fit the layout. The Positives. - The build quality is fantastic. Very Solid and heavy. QMK is great. Drops software is pretty good for the board. Large community that own the keyboard. I have added Sa profile keycaps to mine along with some sound damping material and and Gateron ink yellow switches add lubed the stabilizers. ... show more

  • Solid keyboard. HORRIBLE SOFTWARE!
Color: Gray Style: Halo Clear
My Drop Alt said it was new. Obviously it was not new as it came in a brown box. the feet. The software is also so convoluted and stupid. Every time you want to change the led lights you first have to take two files and put them in a folder, then download firmware from their website and put said firmware into folder with other files, then open the command terminal and change the directory with newly downloaded files, then run a command to flash firmware to the keyboard, oh and while it's doing this you either have to turn the keyboard off with a paper clip underneath or hold FN + B to turn the keyboard off and hope the firmware flashes to the keyboard. This took 3 hours the first time to get no error code. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY TIME TO CHANGE EVEN A SINGLE COLOR. Oh and they made it so you can't save multiple light profiles to the keyboard, and as soon as you do a light profile it makes it impossible to use the other preset ones. I mean even cheap $50 chinese keyboards have rgb software built in, are you guys really that lazy? The build is so solid though and the Halo Clear switches are so nice I am keeping it, there really is no equivalent unless you build your own keyboard and because of corona virus it's near impossible right now. I got the silver color and it's almost identical to the color of a space gray mac pro. It's also heavy as hell and the keycaps are a medium gray in the middle and a really dark gray on the outside that almost look black. The light bar has awful diffusers so you can see all the individual leds, they could have tried harder. Pros: Beautiful machined aluminum frame that you really can't get elsewhere in a prebuilt Really nice switches that feel stable USB C on left and right side, although I couldn't get the board to flash on the right side Great keycaps, real smooth to the touch, don't feel like cheap gritty keycaps LED lights get real bright and easy to remember macro keys. Cons: Worst rgb and macro software any company on earth has ever implemented. New package might not be new Bad stabilizers, but not that bad, it's the same as any Razer, Corsair, or Steel Series board. Light bar has bad diffuser. Once again horrible software, I had to use Reddit for 3 hours to fix their incompetence in software. Again, what is wrong with you guys, why didn't you just build simple software, everyone else can do it why can't you. Don't think you can use QMK, you would have to dedicate months of learning how to program to use QMK. ... show more
