I had a little trouble getting these to pair when they arrived, the instructions are a little vague. I had to pair one, then move it out of the room to pair the second unit. Got them for our backyard garden, and they worked perfectly, sometimes a little too good. But, I’d rather that than worry if they are picking things up. 3 weeks in. So far, so good. But given other reviews, I am wary of possible issues in the future. Things to note: .I have both units placed in relatively shady areas, and perhaps the lack of light (and disturbance from waving trees and what not) is what limits falls alarms. . These were installed in northern California summer, so they haven't had to duel it out with the elements. .Installed about 4ft from the ground, a good 70ft to 90ft from the receiver unit. .Each is hung on a single screw, which is so far its weakest point as 1 screw hardly allows for keeping the units straight and in place. --------- I bought these as an anxious parent who wanted to be alerted to my child attempting to open the front gate or head down the driveway. What I wasn't expecting was that they would come in handy for those like myself with a exaggerated startle response that has them screaming in horror when their partner comes home from work. As soon as my husbands car pulls up, the receiver plays its little chime to let me know that in a minute someone will be coming through the front door. Now, instead of being greeted with an ear-piercing, "ahhhhhhh!", my husband gets a, "hey" (or just silence, depending on the days events). That aside, it also lets me know when a mail carrier has dropped off a package or when my cat decides to take a nap on my car hood. ... show more

    • Make sure you know what you're getting (into) with this setup.

Three things to know: 1) This setup uses 6x AAA batteries, so buy good ones and a lot of them, as it goes off a lot and not always at the right time. 2) Both sensors trigger the base unit with the same signal, so you don't know which sensor is being triggered. A pain if one is getting false readings, or if you have them by different doors you won't know which is the correct one to open. 3) You must pair the sensors after battery/power loss, so be prepared to take the sensors in the house or wherever you have the base unit to pair (it only takes a few seconds but it's another thing you have to do). I don't know how long the power can be out or without batteries in the sensors for them to lose their pairing, but I returned the unit for this reason and the previous ones and I don't care to find out. ... show more

PRO: The range is excellent. We have 4 of these placed outside our home as added security and they work great. CON: Our old system had a different beep for each monitor and we were able to determine by beep which monitor was detecting movement. These new monitors play one tone for all the monitors, so there is no way to determine which monitor is sounding off. Also they are more like doorbell sounds rather than alarm or beeping sounds. I'm not fond of listing to musical sounds for an alarm. If you are only going to use one monitor for your driveway, then this is an excellent buy. ... show more

Negative reviews must've received a bad batch or they're installing it so that signal must pass through several walls to the ringer receiver because they don't understand how radio works. User error is almost certainly the primary culprit. I've been using these for 1 year nearly to the day and they work fine. Almost too sensitive and typically picks movement up from about 15-20 feet away, including the movement of trees in the wind which creates false alarms if you set them up in the wrong spot. I wish you could set a delay time after the ring before it is allowed to ring again as it usually rings multiple times while anyone is at the door. Took both sensors apart and coated their boards in silicone conformal then used caulk around the edge of the sensor window, taped up the rear battery panel, and mounting notch to improve weather/humidity resistance, then hit them with a coat of rustoleum on the plastic to improve UV resistance. Used one sensor as an automatic doorbell under a covered area; works great, still going strong. Put one on the north side of a tree by my driveway (to limit sun exposure) about 70 ft away from the receiver. The signal must pass through one wall and it worked fine for about 9 months rain/shine until the humidity got inside and corroded the batteries. These are not weather rated at all. That was a failure of my weatherproofing (tape I used eventually failed), not the sensor's fault. I am dubious about their distance claims, the end of my driveway is about 200ft away and line of sight passes through some light underbrush. It did not work at that distance unless I put the receiver on an extension cord and set it in the window to minimize obstructions in the line of sight and then it was somewhat spotty. I'd say anywhere under 100ft with minimal LOS obstructions it should work nearly 100% of the time, the closer the sensor to the receiver the more obstructions it will pass through. ... show more
