  • Uniden listened to customers when building this radio
Having owned Uniden radios my entire adult life, Uniden listened to customers when building this radio. It is perfect and designed to what scanner listeners wanted, and corrected what we complained about with the previous models. The only thing I'd like to see different, or added, is the bluetooth function only works with the Uniden app. This is awesome for monitoring the radio from your smartphone around the house or in the car. But, I travel often and would have like to seen bluetooth capable of pairing to my airpods for private listening. Of course, I have, and use, a dongle to plug into the headphone jack that allows this but anytime we do not need additional add on accessories to carry around the better. (Edit 4/20/26: You can also use the phone app with the airpods. Just turn down the volume on the radio and the audio comes through the app on the phone). I will add the radio arrives with a detailed printed user manual, with readable sized text, a great resource guide even for experienced users. Kudo's to Uniden on the build and quality of this radio. Well done! ... show more

  • Amazing scanner
Amazing scanner. Although many police and fire departments are going encrypted, many aren’t. And there’s a ton of digital radio traffic this scanner can fully receive. A must have for the serious scannist.

  • I find it to an oxymoron that Uniden SDS150 is their most advanced scanner when...
Initial opinion is Uniden is in the 1980s with the support tools. I just received my $1000+ handheld scanner and the support tools for it only run on Micro$soft windows. I have not had a computer that ran MS windows since the 1990s. Uniden you have to support at least two if not three common computer operating systems ie MacOS, Linux and whatever M$ pushes out. ... show more

  • Expensive, underwhelming
In short, a bit faster than SDS100, at 2x the price. The good: - Easy to use, good reception - Rugged body - Display visible in daylight Disappointments: - Packaging quality is on par with sub-$50 Aliexpress electronics. One would expect a $1000 device to come in a much more attractive package. - GPS reception is not very good. It takes about a minute to get a fix outside and GPS is unreliable when used inside a car, among buildings, or in covered spaces. This nullifies the main advantage of SDS150 over SDS100. - Control software - U/Aware - is minimalist and buggy. It is easier to operate the scanner using the scanner itself. What's the point of the software? - Battery is strangely shaped and it wobbles when attached, which raises quality questions. - Extra feature keys should have been included. Together with egg carton-quality packaging, this looks like a desperate attempt to squeeze every last $ out of consumers by using contrast pricing -- when you paid close to $1000 for the device, paying another $150 does not look like a big deal. This is like buying a car with 3 wheels and purchasing the 4th wheel from the dealer separately. Realistically, good price for this product would be $100 above current steeet price of SDS100. But a niche product with limited production volumes must be priced higher to be profitable. ... show more

  • Great Upgrade with One Build Concern
The media could not be loaded. I own the Uniden SDS150 and overall I’m very impressed with its performance. I’ve taken it with me on trips from Los Angeles to Washington, DC and Atlanta, and it handled different RF environments extremely well. Reception is strong, especially on simulcast systems, and it clearly outperforms older models like the SDS100. The screen is also a big upgrade. It’s brighter, more vibrant, and the colors look much more accurate and true to life. That said, the reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars instead of 5 is the battery cover. It’s installed correctly and fully seated, but it still moves slightly in the back. It feels tight, but there’s a small amount of play that doesn’t seem normal for a device at this price point. It doesn’t affect performance, but it does impact the overall build feel. I also think the folding base could be a little more refined. Overall, performance and reception are excellent, and it’s a strong scanner, especially for travel. A few small hardware refinements would make it perfect. ... show more
