My wife is 4' 7" and weighs 90 something pounds maybe. We have a narrow door to the master toilet... no problem for this chair. Standard size doors and walkways are much easier to navigate than they would be in a standard size chair. This chair is also lighter and since it is smaller it fits easily in the back of our small SUV... Hyundai Tucson. Easy to use for going out and about. Now, I am 5' 6" and twice the wife's weight. I can sit in this chair if I am not wearing bulky clothing. If you expect to sit in any transport chair for long periods of time... get a cushion. Purple makes a great one, thin, light. MY 96 year old mother is in a wheelchair most of the time. We have two of these in case one breaks or needs service but that hasn't happened. However, we recently moved and the movers lost her second wheelchair so they paid for another one so we can have two again. This is her third of the same kind. They are very much worth the price. What a great purchase. I have a bathroom door that is exactly 24" wide and the narrow portion of the door frame is 23.5". There is plenty of room to spare on either side. We took the door off but the chair would fit without doing that. Very easy to roll on hardwood, tile and carpet. Has good locks on the rear wheels that can be engaged and disengaged with the foot so you don't have to bend over. The front wheels don't lock which makes it easy to move out the way since they still roll when the back wheels are locked. The widest portion of the chair is 18.50". From rear wheel bolt head to rear wheel bolt head. Suggestion to the designer is add another rail underneath the padded cushion arm rest. My 85 year old mother does not have the strength to lift herself due to the arm rest being so high. See the photo. Where the yard stick is it would be nice to have another rail to shorten the length of lift that she has. I need to get a 4" cushion and that will solve my problem. The arms fold down making it easy to store. I would not use this chair down a set of stairs like I use the wheelchair to roll her down two steps I have at home. Ramp to be built soon. My mom is petite at 5'1 and weighs probably around 130lbs. This is perfect for her. It's lightweight and we can easy maneuver it around my parents home. They live in an older home so the rooms are small as are the doorways-can get around without issue. We haven't taken her many places outside of the home, but I don't think it would be an issue. We did purchases a nice cushion with a back as well just to make it more comfortable since she has back and tailbone issues. This chair is very easy to use and seemingly sturdy. We ordered narrow chair mom is 5ft 120 pounds I little tight with coat. But such a breeze to put in car! Bumps like cracked sidewalks and thresholds could be difficult but with a little push with your foot on back of chair then no problem at all.. Chair fits through all our Super narrow doors of our old house with room to spare. Turns in her bathroom so no more getting stuck in bathroom that was too small for wheelchair.
