Will probably not accommodate someone over 200 lbs
Color: Red
We just got this today as a replacement for an old transport wheelchair that weighed 30 lbs. On the plus side it was very easy to put together right out of the box, and easy to adjust the foot rests. It seems sturdy and easy to maneuver. The handbrakes work well (although I would have liked to have t
he wheel brakes in addition). On the negative side, the seat actually measures 18 inches wide, not 19. My husband weighs about 200 lbs. and he can fit but it he puts his arms on the arm rests, it’s a little snug. If he had to spend a lot of time in it, he’d probably feels squished after awhile. Since we just got it, I can’t comment on how it lasts.

I wanted to go to a concert, I got tickets close to the last minute. I needed a way to get from the parking to the venue. I ordered this one because they could deliver in time for the concert. The chair worked just as I hoped, I love it!

Convenient, lightweight transport chair
Color: Red
Overall, this chair works well and seems to be a good choice. There is really no assembly required, just pull it out of the box and pop on the two footrests. Reviews for this and similar chairs suggest that the front forks which seem rather thin might be a concern. I selected this one in part because
of several reviews for other chairs showing bent or collapsed forks. Of course, this one also has one such review. I assume that might relate to loading since this chair is claimed to be good for occupants up to 300 pounds and I suspect that might be overly optimistic for a chair with such a lightweight aluminum frame. Since my wife is only about 5’ and 110 pounds I am hoping that this chair will prove sturdy enough for us. The chair is relatively light at 23.4 pounds with the footrests installed, and I like the larger wheels which handle terrain well. Although only 8” in diameter the front wheels are large enough to roll over smaller bumps like flooring perimeter strips without having to reverse direction. The 12” rear wheels are also a nice feature and roll smoothly. For a smaller occupant at least, the seat is roomy and comfortable with no additional cushioning needed. The chair folds easily to a narrower size and the top half of the backrest also folds to help reduce the storage space. Opening the chair and raising and locking the back into position also takes just seconds. The handbrakes are good. They required no adjustment out of the box and both braking and locking in position was fine. There is no information provided on their adjustment, but they seem to be pretty standard bicycle type brakes and presumably can be adjusted if needed with the locknut. The only problem with the chair I received is that the left foot rest does not lock into position properly without pressing the tab to force it closed. The other one works fine. The chairs fulcrum point seems to be over the rear axle and the chair can be tilted backwards very easily. That helps when needed at curbs and such but it could be a problem and requires ones attention. Some more expensive chairs include rear bars to limit backwards rotation but I already find the small footpads at the back of this chair a minor problem since the length of the back arms is too short for me and I tend to keep inadvertently kicking the footpads. Accidental back rotation shouldn’t be a problem as long as one is careful. I don’t think the seatbelt is likely to help and it can tend to get in the way, but fortunately it is attached with a single screw at each end so it could be easily removed without any damage to the belt or the chair. The length of the footrests can be adjusted to 5 positions and they swing out of the way easily for access to the chair. They also are easy to put on and take off, but they only lock in the forward position. Since they are normally swung open before the chair is folded for loading into the car, they invariably just fall off. A mechanism to hold them in place while swung open would be helpful. They can be swung back to lock before loading, although that does take up more space. Overall, this transport chair meets our requirements very well and I am glad I bought it.

Lightweight easy to manage fold down & load in car . It has been named the little red corvette! It works for me but for others ….note seat width as some larger people may not be able to fit all their assets in.

About as Lightweight as you can get
Color: Red
We've used this for over a year for my 93-year-old mother both in her suburban home and on the streets of New York City. It's secure and when we hit uneven concrete she stays in her chair. Extremely easy to fold and lift into the trunk of a car. Not heavy (19 pounds). It is perfect for her suburban h
ome to roll her out to a car and into a store, doctor's office or restaurant. However, we've had a few problems on the sidewalks of Manhattan. After entering a store, the left footrest hit a wire storage bin and broke off rather easily. It was a big surprise since we were moving very slowly and it didn't seem to be a hard enough hit to snap the metal. So we had to buy a replacement left footrest. Next, the left front caster eventually disintegrated and luckily for us a medical supply store in my neighborhood had a used front wheel from the same model that an employee replaced as it was ready to fall off while we were blocks away from home. He told us the Expedition model transport wheelchair is the best a customer can buy for the streets of NYC. Nonetheless, sooner than later we will need to replace the 2 front wheels for (another $60) after 3 months of riding on sidewalks in New York City. Now I wonder why the front wheels need to be smaller on the Expedition wheelchair. Why not make all 4 wheels the size of the bigger back wheels? I also found that customer service at Drive is not reachable by phone. We had to order a footrest from a medical supply company in Tennesee and wait a week for it to be delivered. The wheels I'll buy from the medical supply store in my Manhattan neighborhood for helping us and what a relief that they will also put them on at no charge. Alas, after we buy 2 new front wheels, we'll be $45 short of what we paid for the wheelchair new. Amazon we continue to love! Drive could stand to beef up its customer service ... you're on your own after buying its products.

Sturdy, comfortable and smooth riding

I transported my husband through the winding corridors of a hospital for an outpatient radiology appointment. I found the chair easy to operate and to push around despite my small stature. Great brakes, too.

My spouse has difficulty walking distances because of arthritis. This chair allows her to get around on smooth hard surfaces. It works well for visits to stores or museums or on pavement. It is difficult to nearly impossible to push on uneven surfaces or grass.

Good product but front wheel hex nut covers are likely to fall off.
Color: Red
This is a good product; however, the wheelchair came with a broken right front hex nut plastic cover. The cracked plastic cover was at the bottom of the box. I duct taped it back on while I waited for a replacement part. Also, one of the rear wheels was dirty as if the chair had been sitting in a pud
dle of muddy water before being boxed. Customer support could not identify the part number to replace the front wheel hex nut plastic cover. They sent the closest part, the axel replacement, which was not the right part. Rather than continue with customer support, I found the correct part on amazon.com (E-outstanding 24pcs M8 Plastic Hexagon Bolt Nut Black Nylon Dome Protection Caps Covers Exposed, M8x13) and did my own replacement for less than $10. The product design is OK but it should be reengineered so that the arm rests fold back or to the sides so that the chair can fit closely under a table for dining.

The only thing Is wish the legs where more adjustable and it could use some way to lock t
he wheels. Other than that great chair for the price.

Lightweight, strong, folds very compact
Color: Blue
This was better than I expected, looks nice and is well made. The fold down handles make it much easier to fit in a car or on a plane. It doesn't stay closed on it's own when folded so needs a Velcro strap or something to secure it. Brakes work okay, but I wish they used disks similar to a bicycle to
make them easier to modulate. I don't think it is safe to use one of these without brakes unless you will always be on level ground.

Metal frame not wide enough
Color: Red
I ordered this chair because it had a 19" seat. Big problem, though. The metal frame was not wide enough for me to sit back in the seat. Family member bought it from me. Will be ordering a bariatric chair instead.
