  • better value than renting
Style: Removable Desk Arms/Swing Away Foot Rests Size: 20 Inch (Pack of 1)
So much more affordable and convenient than renting from a medical supply place. I am having surgery that requires absolutely no weight bearing for 6 weeks. A knee walker is too uncomfortable for me to use, and crutches too awkward. I am so impressed with the quality of this chair! It is as well made as those I have used in the hospital. It arrived needing no assembly other than sliding on the leg rests. I tried it out and it is comfortable and rolls smoothly. I am a big gal, and this supports my weight firmly. The swing away arms operate easily. If you plan to have them up while in motion, you might want to secure them with a velcro strap in the back. They flop a bit and could hit the wheel from behind. I almost wish I hadn't opted for that feature as I probably won't use it. The arms are needed to push up from the chair, and the shape of them is more comfortable and unobtrusive than I was expecting. UPDATE: After 5 weeks of use, The fabric at the edge of the seat is starting to rip, and the piece of metal underneath it is poking through. It is still secure enough to sit in, just a cosmetic issue for now. One of the brakes is loose. It still works, but the bolt lets it wobble. I have tightened it once, but it loosened up again within a week. The seat needs a pad (folded blanket does fine) if you're in it for very long. I have still gotten my money's worth and I'm very happy with it. This is a good value for the short term. If I needed one for much longer, I would pay more and upgrade. ... show more

  • Excellent choice for short term/lightweight use
Style: Removable Desk Arms/Swing Away Foot Rests Size: 18 Inch (Pack of 1)
I was unable to walk for several months this year and have been very pleased with this wheelchair. We were hoping it would be a temporary purchase and thus didn't want to spend a whole lot on it. I used it with a foam seat cushion and foam back cushion. I weigh 130lb and am 5'7". Without a 4" seat cushion I think the seat may have been too low for my legs to be comfy. There was enough seat width for me to have my purse beside me - but not enough for me to slide all over the place. I did try this wheelchair at a local store before ordering via Amazon so that I was sure of the fit and my husband was sure it was easy to push. There's not a whole lot of shock absorption, but we mostly used the wheelchair for shopping trips, state fair, daytrips. We didn't try it much on grass or gravel. The chair is narrow enough for most store aisles. We discovered that for going for "walks" it was better to drive to a smoothly finished bike/walking trail than to try our neighborhood sidewalks. I didn't get to use the swing-away arm feature too often, but it is a very good idea if you plan to sit at a cafe table/desk etc as you can get right up to the table. My husband found the wheelchair easy to fold/unfold for putting in the car - you do have to remove the foot supports, but it's a simple operation. The only thing that would have been more useful for him would be adjustable height handles. Overall we have been delighted with the quality of this wheelchair for the price. If it turned out that I was never going to walk again, we would have looked for a more durable replacement wheelchair, but this one has filled a dire need without killing us financially. ... show more

  • Good chair for the price
Style: Removable Desk Arms/Swing Away Foot Rests Size: 18 Inch (Pack of 1)
This is a good, well made chair for the price. It is sturdy and lite enough that my wife can fold it, pick it up and get it into the trunk of the car with only minor complaining. The leg extensions remove easily for storage and it folds easily too. Its comfortable but you will want a cushion for the seat if you will be in it for more than 20 minutes or so. This is not a chair for permanent use but really for someone who needs it temporarily or for someone that can not wheel themselves easily. I bought it when first having trouble walking and after a year moved on to an ultralight wheelchair. It got a lot of use in that year traveling to Europe and around the city and state. It has held up very well. We had no problem fitting it in the trunk of cars including a Chevy Cruise which is a relatively small car. The chair is really made to wheel someone around, and not so much for wheeling yourself. It is not very good for outside use and does not have anti-tip wheels which are helpful when going up inclines. If you are wheeling yourself up an incline, it doesn't take much effort to flip the chair backwards. Overall its a great chair for temporary use or for someone who can not wheel themselves. ... show more

  • GREAT CHAIR
Style: Removable Desk Arms/Swing Away Foot Rests Size: 20 Inch (Pack of 1)
there has been hundreds of reviews for this chair and two things weren't mentioned. first, I've been in nursing home hand-me-downs for 5 years. the chairs I've had are hard to roll and heavy as heck. being in this chair is like going from a tank to a racecar. the 2nd thing this chair has that I haven't seen on any other is this little flap that hangs down the seat back and velcros to the seat, essentially making a bucket seat. to say I love this chair is a understatement. I have only had this chair for a week so i'll have to give a more complete review later, but this is a great chair. It weighs next to nothing, flies like the wind and turns on a dime. i'd suggest you buy this chair. ... show more

  • awful back support
Style: Removable Desk Arms/Swing Away Foot Rests Size: 18 Inch (Pack of 1)
We have been renting a wheelchair for my daughter, but she needs a more permanent solution as an ambulatory wheelchair user. This had many features we were looking for and she was excited when it arrived. That excitement faded in a few seconds on sitting the wheel chair. She said it hurt her back. We tried adding padding, and I tried it - that was yesterday. I sat in the chair long enough to roll around our foyer - my back still hurts from sitting this thing. Worst of all its not returnable, so I have to try to recoup my costs to buy her a different chair. We went with the brand (invacare) she's been renting an already likes for about $200 more and that one is returnable if we have issues- so its a brand decision not to accept returns. Stay away from this chair. Got burned trying to save some money. ... show more
