My four hens absolutely loved these dried black fly larvae. When I opened the box, I noticed that these were plumper and larger than some other brands that I have bought. I was happy about how well it was packaged.. a really good cardboard box, and a resealable plastic liner. The price was also very reasonable, much cheaper than the big box stores. 2.5lbs is a large quantity, I have four hens and that will last over a month.. The dried worms are a treat, I add about a third of a cup to their lunch tray, maybe every other day.. I put down a full cup for the hens to try, and they went crazy.. The two grey hens, Thelma and Loiuse ran right over.. Then their sister Alice joined them.. She was a little hesitant to actually eat off the tray, so I have her some right on the ground. Alice, Thelma and Louise cleaned them up right away.. The loner of the flock, Chloe, came running over, and dove in at the end. Those chickens just gobbled all the worms they could get.. I love to see them so happy... Full disclosure, I have not personally ever tried a dried worm, even if it was prepared for humans, but I can tell you that my dear hens loved these. The seller says that these are 100% natural, non GMO dried Black Fly Larvae, I think this protein helps with their eggs. You should see the yolks..Good value, and the full endorsement of Thelma, Louise, Alice and Chloe.

My chickens love these treats, and they get so excited when they see me coming with them. This is a really big box, I was not expecting there to be so many in here. This really is a lot of value for the money. They are all dry as a bone which is as expected, so there is no mold or anything like that. Great chicken treats!!

My chickens are very happy with these. They are treated every day, and have been a week now, and I still have a lot left. The packaging has a sealed bag, so you can reseal it after you get some out for your chickens. That helps the larvae stay fresh and dry. My chickens seems pretty happy with the taste. The smell is inoffensive, if not non-existent. They seem like high quality larvae, and a good amount of it for the price.

I usually buy 5 lb. boxes of soldier fly larvae, but figured I may as well try these, given the fact I got this free on Vine. I got a laugh out of the misspelling of larvae on the box and the image of the chicken with a chick tucked into it's hoodie. The worms are large and arrived whole - not a mess of broken and crushed bits and nasty dust. I'm not sure of the freshness or the smell, and I'm not going to find out. I hold my breath when I'm serving these to my chickens because I get grossed out by the thought of larvae dust getting up my nose. When I give these to my chickens, they don't eat them all. This isn't usual for them, as they hork down their usual larvae, leaving nothing behind. Maybe they just aren't used to these. I'll probably never know. This box is a little expensive, in my opinion. If you go to farm supply stores to buy your larvae, you'll get a 1 lb. bag for this price, but I can get my usual brand with 5 lbs. of larvae for the same price as this 2.5 lb. box. I'll likely stick to my usual brand.

We ordered these to be high protein treats for our chickens. We saw how some create a way to harvest their own live soldier fly larva for their chickens but it looks like a lot of work. Then we saw these and decided to give them a try. You get a big box and it is a great deal for the price that will last a long time. The chickens went nuts when we introduced them to these. They definitely like the taste as they got excited and went crazy eating them. It's nice to have a quality, natural treat to give them! We will continue to purchase these!

When our regular order was late, we ordered these to be high protein treats for our chickens. We saw how some create a way to harvest their own live soldier fly larva for their chickens but it looks like a lot of work and I would hate seeing those alive and squirming. The chickens enjoyed them immediately. The quality is not bad- although they crumble a bit while being scooped, they are a natural treat to give our chickens! The price is quite reasonable on a regular basis AND, they are currently 10% off! Give them a try! Or let your chickens have a taste!

This is such a good value for your money. I knew it said 2.5lbs but omg the box is MASSIVE. Picture of box next to my kitten for scale. You get so much for the price! I love the very limited, very simple SINGLE INGREDIENT recipe. All the chickens love them notoriously too! We like to give them as treats but also sprinkle them around in their coops when we clean them so that they can find little treats when foraging. Good enrichment. The chickens love them. Very happy with this :)
