  • Works great in cold snap!
We have started our winter season with single digit temps and this heater was able to keep my chickens water from freezing throughout the season. We kept this in the run and was able to do its job without any worry including the windy days!

  • Works as intended
I held off on writing a review until it really got a workout in the sustained cold weather. After a few weeks of freezing/below freezing in the 20s, it is working really well. Hoping it keeps working this well as temps reach closer to 0! One thing to note is that it scratches pretty easily on the flat top, but for the price you can't ask for much more. Works as intended and has saved me from having to change out the chickens water every day, sometimes multiple times! ... show more

  • Just what was needed
I've had this about 2 months. So far no problems. It was just what i was looking for. It keeps the water at a nice lukewarm temp. It Does not get too hot I put a plastic waterer on top and it does just fine. Does NOT melt the plastic It seems durable, easy to clean, perfect for a coop where they can stand on it, peck at it, or poop on it and it's not going to damage it. it's low power so i don't worry about being too hot for the birds or starting a fire. It's basic, but that's exactly what's needed for a coop. No need for fancy devices that may or may not work and might start a fire. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Hot!
We live in MN so we have to deal with cold harsh winters. Bought this heater when old one went out and have been very pleased. Have not had any freezing water even in Temps well below freezing. Only issue would be is that it runs a little too warm where it heats the water but we can deal with that as long as the chickens have access to water. ... show more

  • Works Very Well
At first, I wasn't sure it would work with my metal waterer because both surfaces are smooth. It took me a minute to level the ground beneath it completely (I have the warmer sitting on top of some bricks) so the waterer wouldn't slide. Now that there is some dirt that has caked onto the warmer, I feel like it is a rougher surface and haven't has any issues with my waterer sliding. This does get very warm in the center and I have noticed it makes the water warm to the touch (not hot, but about lukewarm water). I don't particularly care, my birds aren't running around it and have access to fresh, thawed water each day. As far as cold-tested, this warmer was able to operate a few weeks ago down to -20 with windchills here in SW Michigan. We didn't lose power (thankfully) and the birds were able to access water... even though they stayed in the coop for most of the storm. I also have not seen any significant increase to my electric bill. I have this plugged into an extention cord that runs to my garage and has power all the time. The unit doesn't turn on unless outside temps are below 35°. I haven't tested that, but it's not a power hog like I thought it would be. Overall, would buy again and I'll be using it here throughout each winter. ... show more

  • Worked great
Works great for metal or heavy duty plastic waterers. I had no frozen water even at below zero temps.

  • Didn’t work after 2 months
This thing is way to expensive to only work for two mild weather months. Joke

  • Customers Are Asking About AMPS and not receiving the correct answer. I will answer precisely.
To determine the amperage drawn by this heated drinker base, you can use Ohm's Law, which states that current (in amperes) is equal to power (in watts) divided by voltage (in volts). In this case, the voltage is 120VAC and the power is 125 watts. Using the formula I = P / V, you can calculate the amperage as follows: I = 125 watts / 120 volts I ≈ 1.04 amps Therefore, the heated drinker base will draw 1.04 amps of current.😊🇺🇸 ... show more
