  • I'm impressed
Color: Gray
At this price point you would expect it to feel cheap and poorly made, but that is far from the case. The d-pad and abxy buttons have a very nintendo-esque feel to them. The other buttons (the screen brightness and home buttons) feel more like a cheap mouse click, but those buttons are seldomly used anyway. The screen is it's biggest selling point and has to be seen to be believed. It isn't a very large screen, but the quality is on par with modern cellphones. Overall, I am impressed. The RG300 has all the games you could possibly want to play from gb, gba, nes, snes, genesis, gamegear, and more. ... show more

  • Just buy it, seriously
Color: Gray
I stumbled upon the world of retro gaming handhelds while looking for an alternative to playing Gameboy games on my phone. The refurbished Gameboys are so expensive, and truthfully I can do without dealing with those chunky cartridges ever again! This little gadget made all my dreams come true. It took a little finagling with the settings to get the game boy color experience I wanted, but a quick Google search told me everything I needed to know to get started. It arrived pre-loaded with a ton of games—all the ones I had wanted, and even some oldies I had forgotten about and can’t wait to revisit. I am 30 years old and I truly don’t think I’ve gotten this much joy from any sort of video game since the OG Pokemon Yellow came out. If you’re like me and it’s nostalgia you’re after, this will make your heart happy!! ... show more

  • Excellent little handheld for starting out with some small annoying problems
Color: Black Transparent
Originally was using my phone to play my roms but wanted something physical to feel buttons and wasn't ready to shell up 100+. This little - about half the size of the original gameboy - is pretty cool. I really wanted it for Gameboy and SNES and this guy runs these perfectly! I had several issues running any of the sega ports and the ps1 roms ran absolutely terrible, do not buy this for the ps1 emulation. The sega stuff was hit or miss and even some of the roms pre installed for the GB, GBC, GBA, NES and SNES where pretty messed up and wouldn't load but lucky for me they weren't games I was too attached too, except for clayfighters but I have my own rom on my pc that works miles better that I may try and install on to this little guy later. Last two issues, she runs HOT, extremely HOT to the touch when running some of the GBA games and PS1 titles, I had to put it done a few times because it was just uncomfortable. But all the systems I mention before that I wanted it for - GB, GBC, NES & SNES minus the GBA - never got the system hot enough to annoy me. The speakers on this guy are also hit or miss, when they work its great but every now and again the sound just cuts off or starts really high. I got around this by tapping around the speaker and after a couple light taps the sound would pop back into place. There are a ton of excellent games, emulators and even skins to choose from - I haven't tried the music, video, or image play back because I have a phone for that stuff but if I do ill update this review. Oh! Lastly, the battery is Meh at best, running GB and SNES the battery stays pretty healthy but load up GBA, Gamegear or PS1 and BOOM! There goes all the charge in like 40mins. For the price and what I use it for, i'd say its a pretty good starter, all the games I already enjoy where preinstalled and work flawlessly. Its perfectly travel sized for a pocket, side of bag or just leaving near the restroom. I do think I'll be upgrading to the Anbernic RG351V in the future just cause its a looks slightly bigger and more sturdy, or just wait till my steamdeck shows up, but for now this is good little handheld emulator with some problems but if your like me and really just wanna play some GB, GBC and SNES games while waiting for Nintendo to port them then yeah i'd recommend this guy. This transparent edition is super cool looking too, glad I picked it over the standard grey version. Before I forget, the system uses "select and start" pushed simultaneously to open the emulators menus during gameplay on most emulators BUT NOT ON THE GBA and GBC emulators! For that you need to push the right shoulder button to open up the menu and access the scaler, quality, save states or exit the app. Just a friendly tip since the booklet didn't mention this anywhere. If they were to add one extra thing, I'd love a "favorites" section to mark the games I play most, cause is it a pain and a half scrolling through the hundreds of games in ABC order just to get to Super Mario land 2. I've included some pictures for scale compared to some nendos and my other handhelds and phone. Ok Im done now. ... show more

  • I have seen the light!!
Color: Gray
Wow. Glad I finally bit the bullet and got one. I grew up with original Gameboy so I dont have a problem with crappy screens like Gba sp or ds....but the screen on this system is insanely awesome! So much nicer....night and day difference. True hd on this is crazy. I understand you can put an ips screen in some older systems but it costs almost as much as this and i am not capable. Ok so....there are tons of games and settings choices. I honestly dont care for fighting games as 1 player so I didnt try any of those. My old favorites look stunning though. And I mean mind blowing. If you choose to play the gb originals in full screen they are formatted for that and dont look stretched like when you go full screen on GBA sp. i cant even tell you how stoked I am for all my old favorites on this nice big, crisp screen. The save state will keep your setting prefferences on that particular game too. SOD, Tour de Thrash is my absolute favorite gb game ever and it looks and plays great on here. I actually choose to play monochrome which is easy to do in the game setting. I took a picture to show you Nintendo World cup in that green pallete compared to the original Gameboy. The only thing i wish it had is Atari 2600 already on it because I really love some RS Baseball and quite a few other Atari games and would love that on here. You can add that emulator and games yourself if you are that savvy. I think I will just play whats on here. Now on those ever drive type carts, i was able to easily add roms and folder my favorites so I didnt have to scroll forever. I dont know how to do that with this. Emulators on here have broken the lists down like a-e, f-l, etc so you can atleast not scroll entire lists and trust me, there are entire lists. Every single game I wanted for every single system is on here. Every game I played worked great. A reviewer said there were only a handful of games and that is likely because they didnt read the instructions and use the trigger buttons to navigate to all the emulators. There truly are thousands of legit real games here. I like how it feels all though I do wish it were closer to original GB size because that system still feels so good in hand and will just always be my favorite. This system is very nice though and fits fine in my hands. *I put a screen protector on mine by cutting a bit from a laptop screen protector sheet. Didnt get it perfect but it serves the purpose. This is an excellent sytem. ... show more
