  • A Much Faster and More Comfortable IPL Experience
I’ve been using IPL devices at home for a few years now and, while I love how they can semi-permanently reduce hair on my armpits, face, and around the body, I was surprised when I realized just how long it actually takes to use some of them. My previous IPL device, while pretty premium overall, had a fairly small treatment window that made full-body sessions feel like they took forever. This IPL device from Dreame, a brand that up until recently I only knew for their robot vacuums, feels dramatically faster and more refined in comparison. The larger treatment window and continuous auto-flash mode make a huge difference for bigger areas like legs or arms. Instead of awkwardly stamping tiny sections one by one, you can sort of glide this along the skin much more naturally, which cuts down treatment time a lot. The sapphire cooling is also another great quality of life upgrade. My previous IPL device wasn’t excruciating or anything, certainly nowhere near those genuinely hellish epilators, but it still had a noticeable sting, especially at higher power levels or around more sensitive areas. This thing barely feels like anything in comparison. The cooling system does a really good job keeping the skin comfortable even during longer sessions. I also appreciate that the device handles a lot of the adjustment logic automatically instead of making you constantly guess which intensity setting you should be using for different areas. The Adaptizone system analyzes the skin and adjusts output automatically, which makes the whole thing feel much more approachable and easy to use. In that spirit, I’m very glad they included protective glasses with this for facial use. I haven't seen another IPL system that includes these, which is weird because if you’re using IPL around the face, protecting your eyes is extremely important, even with systems designed for home use. I appreciate that Dreame actually included them instead of making people source protection separately. Build quality and appearance are also very solid. Dreame’s products in general tend to look and feel more premium than a lot of the generic beauty tech devices online, and this is no different. It has a very clean modern design and doesn’t feel flimsy in the hand. Obviously IPL still requires consistency over time and isn’t instant magic, but this is by far the most polished at-home IPL systems I’ve used. Overall, this is a great option if you want something fast, comfortable, and much less tedious to use than older IPL systems. I think the price is very reasonable considering the larger treatment window, sapphire cooling, automation features, and overall build quality. Between this and their hair styling tools, Dreame has been on a roll lately in the personal care space. ... show more

  • No More Rough Looking Legs For Pale Girls With Dark Hair, Compare to Silk IPL Device
I’ve been using IPL devices for a long time because I have very fair skin and medium to dark brown hair. Even when I shaved close, I always had those tiny brown dots on my legs where the hair sits under the skin. My legs never looked smooth, and the contrast between pale skin and visible hair roots really bothered me. IPL has been the only thing that made my legs look the way I wanted, so I’ve tried several devices over the years, including my long‑time *raun Silk IPL Device. This Dreame Astra IPL device is a new product from Dreame and I thought it looked really interesting because the treatement area is larger and it is also suppoused to stay cooler. I've used this for a few weeks instead of my *raun IPL device (which I'm going to refer to as my Silk in the rest of my review), and here're my results. ➡️ WORKING AREA AND SPEED: BETTER AND FASTER The Dreame Astra has a much larger working area than my Silk. Doing my legs with the Silk used to take me around 25 to 30 minutes for both legs. With the Dreame Astra, I can finish in about 12 to 15 minutes because the window covers more skin with each flash and the continuous mode is fast. That alone makes this my go‑to device right now. I love how fast it is. ➡️ PAIN AND DISCOMFORT: NOT THAT BAD AND MUCH COOLER Realistically, if you've never done IPL, not gonna lie, it's not that fun. But I got used to it and although there is a pinprick of pain (Lasers burning hair will do that I guess), it's not that big a deal and I'm not really that pain tolerant. Bottom line is that devices are tolerable for me, but the Dreame Astra feels cooler on my skin, so it's more of a flash and slight sting and then its done. The built‑in cooling plate makes a noticeable difference, especially on more sensitive areas (inner thighs) where the Silk feels a little sharp or hot. I still feel the usual IPL snap, but the Dreame keeps the heat under control better. If someone is sensitive to warmth, for sure this Dreame is cooler. ➡️ EFFECTIVENESS AND HAIR REMOVAL: BOTH GOOD I’ve only used the Dreame for a few weeks, but I’m already seeing the same early reduction I expect from a strong IPL. My Silk has always been reliable for long‑term results, so I know what to look for. The Dreame seems to be on the same track so far, visible hair reduction on my legs and the hairs growing back are less visiable anyway. The larger window helps with consistency because I’m less likely to miss spots. ➡️ QUALITY: FEELS SOLID The Dreame feels solid and well built. The finish is smooth, the cooling plate is integrated cleanly, and the flash window is large without feeling too bulky. My Silk still feels more compact and is more ergonomic though but the Dreame doesn’t feel cheap at all.. I also like that it comes with goggles. I’m not convinced I absolutely need them, but I use them anyway since I do my IPL sessions right after the shower and they’re already sitting out. ➡️ EASE OF USE, PORTABILITY AND MANEUVERABILITY: DREAME IS BIGGER AND I THINK EASIER TO USE, BUT NOT AS PORTABLE The Dreame is easy to use, I like that it has the Glide mode which just pulses continuously when I do my legs. The Glide mode is also "Smart" so it detects the right level based on my skin and hair for that area. There's also a manual mode, which is what I use on my upper lip, because that just allows me to pick from levels 1-10 so I just started at one and am working my way up. I don't really have a lot on my upper lip and the hair is fine but dark in the corners, so level 3 seems to be best for me there. Also, I snap on the small head when I do my upper lip. I have to admit that the silk is lighter and slightly easier to maneuver around my face, ankles and knees, just because it's smaller. I actually really dislike the Silk's app, so I'm happy Dreame doesn't have one. I think the Silk is easier to move and work with, since it's smaller, but the Dreame is better in other respects in term of ease os use. The SIlk is more portable since it's smaller, although portability isn't a big deal for me. ➡️ SKIN FEEL AND HEAT: COOLER FOR SURE My skin feels cooler during and after a session with the Dreame. The Silk leaves my skin feeling warm for a few minutes, which is normal for IPL, but the Dreame’s cooling plate keeps the heat down. My skin feels calm right away, which I appreciate. ➡️ RELIABILITY: RESULTS GOOD BUT EARLY This is the one category where it's tough to fully judge the Dreame yet. I’ve only had it for a few weeks and expected reliability is high, but I'll have to see how I feel a year from now.. My Silk has lasted years without any issues, so it has a proven track record. The Dreame has been great so far, but I don’t know how it will hold up after a year of weekly use. If it continues performing like this, it will absolutely stay my favorite, but I need more time to know for sure. ➡️ VALUE FOR MONEY: PRETTY PRICEY, BUT ABOUT THE SAME AS LEADING IPL, AND THIS HAS A BIGGER TREATMENT AREA The Dreame Astra is a pricey device. I like using it, and the larger window saves me a lot of time, but I’m not sure I would buy this at full price only because it's sort of spendy given it's a brand new product. Dreame often runs excellent deals, so I would probably put this on a watch list and wait for a discount. If I could get it at a good price, I’d feel much better about the value. If I knew for sure that this would last a year or more (which is what I expect), I would say the value was excellent, becuase it outperforms my Silk. ➡️ FINAL THOUGHTS The Dreame Astra has become my go‑to device because it’s faster, cooler, and covers more area than my Silk, which I've used for years. The Silk still wins for long‑term reliability just because it's been around for a long time, but the Dreame is more easier and less twitchy for me to use and fits better into my weekly routine. If the Dreame holds up over time, it will be my favorite. For now, it’s an excellent device an unknown about long‑term durability and at full price it feels high since it's such a new product. But on sale, I think this is a great buy. ... show more

  • DREAME quality is first rate, but pay attention to the hair/skin tone issues
Not long ago, my wife and I were shopping and she found a laser hair removal device. I asked her if she'd ever tried a device of this type and her response was "I wish I could find one that works for me." I took that statement figuratively--that she hadn't found one that was up to her high standards. So I ordered this device from DREAME which makes everything at very 'high standards'. Unfortunately, she meant that statement literally. The technology in a device like this makes use of hair pigment. It works better on darker hair, which meant that my extremely blonde wife was unable to use any device of this sort on the market. So the hair color/skin color matrix on the side of the box is extremely important. There are also issues with darker skin and in some cases can result in burns. To their credit, DREAME's device covers the widest range of skin tones I've seen--even my extremely fair skinned wife can use it. The problem for her is the light hair tone and to large extent that's just a limitation of the technology used. In other words, the first thing you need to consult is the hair/skin tone chart. If you have compatible skin/hair tone you can't do better than this DREAME unit. Everything DREAME makes is first rate in terms of quality, convenience and functionality. They started out making the best pool cleaning devices available but have expanded their product range significantly. They now make the best hair care products, vacuum cleaners, robotic lawn mowers, etc. Their ability to enter a new market category and excel in it the first time out is remarkable. Assuming your hair/skin tone is suitable for a device of this type, you just can't go wrong with DREAME. ... show more

  • Early impressions are extremely promising
I'm writing this review before I've completed the full "multiple sessions" treatment process, so consider this an early impression rather than a final verdict. I've done two cycles, and the guidance is that you really need six to ten for permanent results. That said, my initial reaction is extremely positive. This machine feels like a serious piece of equipment. The build quality is excellent; it feels commercial-grade, and the overall presentation gives off a professional salon-quality vibe rather than a consumer-gadget vibe. I'm only a couple of treatments in, but it's already clear that the device is working and delivering the experience I was hoping for. Already, the hairs I've treated seem finer and thinner. For anyone new to laser hair removal, it's worth understanding what you're signing up for. I wouldn't describe the treatments as painful, but they aren't completely sensation-free either. There's definitely some mild discomfort depending on the treatment area. It's also important to follow the instructions carefully, especially regarding sun exposure and skin care before and after treatments. You really have to vigilantly stay out of the sun afterward, and that has actually been the biggest challenge. So far, though, I'm very impressed. I'll update my opinion if the long-term results don't match the initial promise, but after two sessions, I'm very happy with the purchase and optimistic about the outcome. ... show more

  • Professional-grade 35J power with an ultra-chilled sapphire window, but the frame is a bit hefty
I picked this up for my wife to upgrade her at-home skincare routine, and she absolutely loves it. If you are looking to skip the hassle and high costs of salon laser packages, the Dreame Astra IPL Hair Removal Device is a phenomenal hardware upgrade that delivers true professional-grade energy output from the comfort of home. Shifting away from standard budget tools, this device features an exceptional 35J pro-grade energy threshold driven by advanced dual-lamp technology, which does a fantastic job of penetrating deeply into follicles to significantly disrupt the hair growth cycle in as little as two weeks. The treatment comfort is where this device truly shines. Because high-energy IPL can easily cause a stinging or warming sensation on delicate skin, the integrated aerospace-grade sapphire ice-touch cooling technology is a massive feature—rapidly pulling heat away from the epidermis to keep the point of contact completely chilled and pain-free. My wife found the enlarged 5.4cm² treatment window to be a huge time-saver, allowing her to clear broad areas like her legs and arms with up to 80% faster coverage per session. The continuous auto-flash glide mode works seamlessly, letting the device emit pulses automatically on contact without forcing you to click the button repeatedly. It also features highly intelligent "Adaptizone" skin-adaptive sensing that reads local skin tones to perfectly calibrate the intensity, completely taking the dangerous guesswork out of manual adjustments. The only minor trade-off to keep in mind is that because the dual-lamp housing and sapphire cooling assembly are built so robustly, the handle carries a bit of structural weight in the hand. However, for a super-fast, incredibly comfortable full-body treatment that delivers lasting silkiness, it is a premium tool that pays for itself almost immediately. ... show more

  • Comfortable IPL device with cooling that makes treatments easier to stick with
Consistently using at-home IPL is usually the hardest part, especially when different areas of the body tolerate heat differently. What stood out here was how much the sapphire cooling helps reduce that sharp, hot sensation that cheaper IPL devices tend to have. Even on stronger settings, treatments felt much more manageable, which realistically makes it easier to stay consistent long enough to see results. Setup is straightforward. The device feels well-made with enough weight to feel premium without becoming tiring during full-body sessions. The large treatment window helps cover larger areas, like legs, fairly quickly, and the continuous flash mode reduces repetitive button pressing. The automatic skin tone detection is also genuinely useful when sharing the device among family members with different skin tones or hair thicknesses, since it adjusts the intensity automatically rather than relying entirely on guesswork. Performance has been good so far, particularly on coarser hair, where some reduction was noticeable within the first couple of weeks. The adjustable power levels are helpful for more sensitive areas, and the cooling system does a good job of minimizing irritation afterward. It is also quieter than expected during operation and does not feel intimidating to use once you get used to the rhythm of treatments. One thing worth noting is that this still requires consistency and patience, like any IPL device. It is not an instant fix, and areas with stubborn hair will likely need ongoing maintenance sessions. For the price, though, the cooling system, automatic calibration features, and faster treatment speed make it feel closer to a higher-end device than many entry-level IPL options. ... show more

  • Impressive Device
I've used quite a few Dreame products at this point, and the Astra IPL continues that trend of polished hardware. The first thing that stood out to me was the sapphire cooling system. IPL devices can be uncomfortable, especially in sensitive areas, but the cooling does a surprisingly good job of keeping treatments comfortable. Combined with the continuous flash mode, it makes covering larger areas much quicker and less tedious than older IPL devices I've tried. The automatic skin tone detection and intensity adjustment are also nice quality-of-life features. Rather than constantly wondering whether you're using the correct setting, the device handles most of that for you. The large treatment window and rapid flash speed help speed up full-body sessions, and the overall build quality feels premium. Dreame clearly put effort into making the process as painless and user-friendly as possible. As for the actual hair reduction claims, it's simply too early for me to verify anything close to the advertised percentages. Hair removal devices require consistent use over time, and meaningful results aren't something you can accurately judge after only a short period. What I can say is that the device is comfortable to use, easy to operate, and feels well engineered. Whether it ultimately delivers the long-term reduction numbers being advertised remains to be seen, but the user experience itself has been very positive so far. ... show more

  • The ‘Precision Head’ was not included in my box; other than that, wonderful results
MY ⭐️RATINGS: 4⭐️- I would recommend it as the one to get. 20260601 Where is the targeted precision head? It’s not included in the box that I received. This device comes with very detailed instructions. Operating an IPL device is quite simple if you follow the instructions carefully. You need to select the right intensity level, make sure you don’t miss any spots, and be patient and committed to achieving the desired results. This IPL device offers four modes: FACE, BODY, VIO (Bikini Area) & AXILLA (Underarms)To avoid repeating the same areas of my body formonths, I ensured that I used all four modes each time I used the device. IPL & LASER are both light treatments. The difference is that the LASER is more precise because it has a higher output and requires a professional. IPL is at home, but both achieve the same results. Of course, IPL takes a little longer and is less expensive. I have seen reviews of many IPL hair removal devices that say they used them for a month and didn’t see results, or that the results were minimal. Well, it takes time. If you are committed, patient, and consistent, then any IPL device will work. This particular device is recommendes 2-3 times a week for weeks 1 - 4. Then, weeks 5 - 8 1 - 2 times a week. Anything after, use it every other week or once a month for maintenance. Most people want to see results by snapping their fingers, and that will not happen. It takes time, even if you go to a professional and have it done. My advice is that if you are not in the mood to take the time, don’t have the patience, and/or are not going to be committed, then don’t get one of these devices. Maybe a professional would be better, but remember, it’s going to cost you a lot more. It took approximately two weeks for me to begin noticing the results. Initially, I noticed hair disappearing from the lower part of my legs. My bikini area had patches where the hair failed to regrow, while other areas appeared finer, thinner, and softer. Despite the patches with no hair regrowth, I still thoroughly treat all the affected areas. Additionally, my armpits have completely lost their hair growth, but I continue to undergo the treatments once a month. As you’re aware, each treatment session requires at least 30-40 minutes. For me, a treatment covers the lower legs, the bikini area, and both armpits. If I also treat the upper legs, bikini area, armpits, and sides of the face, the session duration increases to approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. My legs were the most frustrating. The problem is that I miss areas each time I do a treatment. There’s no way of getting the entire leg each time. I have come up with a pattern that works best for me. I start at my ankle and go around my leg in a circle, spiraling up. I found that going up and down was when I missed the most areas/spots. Doing a spiral has helped me tremendously. On the days I scheduled treatments, I would shave the treatment areas. I also exfoliate the areas using Premium Deep Exfoliating Mitt/Glove 2 Pack. Then, about half an hour after I shave, I start my treatments. KEEP YOUR LEGS CLEAN AND DRY, AND NO LOTIONS. ALWAYS WEAR PROTECTIVE GLASSES! Since I shaved my underarms first, I started there. Those areas take about 5 minutes each. Then I do my bikini area and move on to my legs. If I think I forgot a spot, I return and treat it. I try to pay attention so I don’t miss any areas. Once complete, I apply USDA Certified Jojoba Oil. I feel I need a decent moisturizer, and Jojoba Oil is my go-to. Maintaining a meticulous schedule of my treatment sessions proved to be an invaluable asset. While IPL at home can be quite time-consuming, the results become well worth the effort once you establish a consistent routine. Consider the significant savings you’ll make by eliminating the need to purchase razors, and the time you’ll save in the shower. This IPL Device a bit pricey, but since it’s from a reputable brand, I understand that I’ll have to pay a bit more for the quality. ... show more
