Cool and modern

  • Slick design with some flaws
I think at first glance, this is a decently designed unit. The exterior is nice, with easy to reach buttons, quick change in voltage and a bright display indicating battery life and speed. The needle depth works well with firm, but positive clicks to change. The weight is balanced and fits quite well in the hand, leading to some positive ergonomics. Now, the issues. As this is an all-in-one unit, the battery and controller are not removable. There's a single USB-C charge port, but if you run out of juice there's no option to switch batteries or use corded power. Beyond that lack of core functionality provided by many other designs out there, this ends up making the gun disposable - which is unfortunate. All batteries start to lose lifespan at some point, and this one will end up in a landfill, as there's no ability to swap out the battery pack. Based on that alone, and the competition on the market, I'd probably recommend looking at something else for a first foray into tattooing. ... show more

  • Nice for practice
I'm new to tattooing and have enjoyed using this pen. It seems like a nice quality for the price (this is the most expensive tattoo pen I have so I don't know how it holds up to more expensive machines, but for getting into tattooing I think it's worked well). The battery lasts a while and it's easy to hold. I've only used practice skins and am still learning the basics so someone more veteran to tattooing may have more to say, but for just playing around with the idea of tattooing I think its good. ... show more

  • Decent Beginner Built-in Battery
This wireless tattoo pen machine is the model X2, and would be a decent choice for a beginner to learn on. The grip is comfortable to hold for an extended time. It runs fairly smoothly and it is quiet until reaching the higher voltages which is typical. It adjusts the voltages in 0.1V increments rather than a percentage setting like some of the other cheaper machines. The battery is a good capacity at 1700mAh which is charges relatively quickly and lasts a lot longer. Unfortunately, the battery is built-in rather than swappable so one does have to stop in order to recharge. ... show more

  • Stable Function and Light Weight
The Dragonhawk X2 wireless is amongst my favorite wireless tattoo machines. It has several adjustable settings which I really appreciate. I consider myself a complete beginner but this machine makes things simple. It's so much better than having to be connected to a power source all the time. The battery last several sessions in my experience, if working on small pieces. Well worth the cost in my opinion. It should last a long time, based on the quality im feeling when I hold this. ... show more

  • Lightweight
This tattoo pen is light, and holds a charge. I like that I can work for hours without worrying about running out of juice. It's easy to handle being so light. Can use while charging also.

  • Beefy, fat machine.
I like Dragonhawk and I have a few machines by them but i have to say that i am disappointed in this one. It’s just not the best nor do i think it’s for beginners. Here’s what I liked: - 1700 mAh battery w/ charge cord incl. - 2 green o-rings given for grip - it’s a BEEFY, fat machine. Might be best for people with larger hands - adjustable grip length via twist - matte black finish - power, +/- buttons clear/legible, easy to read What I disliked (reasons for 3 star rating): - battery is not removeable - minimum voltage is 5v which I honestly feel is too strong for a liner vibration wise. - there’s NO adjustable needle depth - the needles poke out way too far. - when you press the power button, it’s on/moving. Most typically require the user to click twice real fast to activate it, not this one. I did not test any liners for this machine as i prefer to line at 4v or under. This machine goes as low as 5v. I tested a 7CM (curved mag), 7RM (round mag) and i actually like it for shading. I think it’s a solid shader, but it’s def too much vibration for lining. ... show more
