This is one of the better beginner tattoo kits I have seen in terms of performance, ease of use, and included accessories. The pen-style machine is lightweight and comfortable to hold, which makes a big difference for anyone still developing steady hand control. The wireless setup is simple and clean. The battery held up well over multiple practice sessions without losing power or consistency. It delivered smooth lines with enough precision to build confidence, even for someone with limited experience. The controls are easy to understand and respond well, which helps reduce frustration during early practice. The kit also includes everything needed to get started. The needles, inks, and practice skin are all functional and make the learning process straightforward. While the materials are not premium, they are appropriate for the price and purpose. You can tell the kit is designed to help beginners focus on skill development without spending extra on professional gear too early. There are a few minor limitations. The overall construction is on the lighter side, so it may not hold up under heavy use. This is an excellent machine that I can't say enough good things about. First of all, the quality is amazing for the low price of the set. The machine is lightweight and easy to use. The pack includes cartridges and black ink along with other usable accessories. Having two batteries is perfect. Each battery has a long life by itself so having two means continous tattooing with no pauses for charging. This set would make a wonderful gift.

The most intriguing function I've seen on a tattoo machine, I had to try it and see what it's all about. This detecting the density of skin. The machine comes with items packed in to get you started. The black ink from Mast is actually worth using. The carts as well, I actually like the 1203rl dragonhawks for stipple shading, so always a plus. It doesn't have a dot function, but that's not a big deal. What blows me away is the power I'm getting from a 8v 6500 rpm motor, I'd all but written them off at this point. However, the Mast motor hits hard and I didn't have any vacations or spots that I had to go back over. And it healed so nicely. I was worried about a tattoo in my shoe not healing well. I fully credit this machine. I've done all of my own tattoos, and I'm not a professional. I was afraid even though I've done my hand I was scared of my foot. I still have to do a black splash behind the letters, but wow. I got great results. It was my first time ever using the gun, I never tried fake skins. And it's body is the perfect size. I can really get a nice grip. It's like holding a giant sharpie. This is the kind of grip I like, not those large ones. I took pictures of the tattoo I did. This is after two weeks, it is completely healed and feels great. And I didn't do much for aftercare. 24 hours with 2nd skin and maybe a half dozen times of moisturizing in all this time. I can't believe how nice the black looks, and how consistent and dark the lines are. I'm surprised not just that the skin density feature works, but by how amazingly well it works. Just like all Dragonhawk machines, the components all feel very nice and high quality. The screen is big and easy to read. It has all of the information you would need or expect on screen. Highly recommended for new artists.

A pretty nifty little machine! I've been interested in learning to tattoo as a hobby. After some research, I got this and some fake skin, and I have to say, I really like it! It's easy to hold in your hand and find a grip that works for you. It works at a good speed and has great battery power. It looks sleek and is surprisingly quiet for a tattoo machine. My husband, who has been tattooing for years with various types of machines, gave it a whirl and also complimented it. I wouldn't use this for large scale or portrait work, but it should be great for smaller or fine line tattoos.

If you are uncertain about whether tattooing is for you, there are plenty of very inexpensive kits that allow you to try the basics without spending much money at all. However, if you are fairly certain that you will like tattooing and will be doing so at least recreationally, this would be an excellent kit to start out with. I am of the opinion that getting a fairly decent product to start is better in the long run than getting a cheap one. For example, you could learn to ride on a clunky heavy steel bike that is cheap, but that makes the learning curve that much harder. If you have the option of a lighter bike, that would allow you to learn quicker and enjoy biking sooner. This kit is definitely a good value. It has a very decent motor and TWO batteries! It is lightweight, easy to maneuver and has the settings needed for adjusting the effects of your lines and shading. I am a casual user and enjoy this machine very much, I am not sure what a professional would make of it though. It is a reliable brand in my experience, so I am hoping to get a lot of use from this kit. Oh, and all the extras are a nice touch, but I would give the same rating without them.
