  • Buy them!
The round core Hi-beams were a little too floppy for me, these hex core Lo-riders are very fast and precise and the sustain is impressive. Slightly stiffer than the hi-beams in a goood way. Very bright and don’t dull out fast. Probably about 3 months of “new string tone” and then even afterwards still sound great. I pull and pop very aggressively and have never busted a string. They are strong. ... show more

  • Good
I really like DR strings. They are all i use on my bass. Only reason for the 1 star deduction is because the 5th string on this particular set is too thick at the end and does not fit in the nut hole on my Warwick FNA Jazzman 5. Only string set I've ran into this problem with. Had to "make it fit" and when I did they sounded great as always from DR and had a good longevity. ... show more

  • Great Bass Tone
These strings have a great tone. The gauge of the strings I bought are 45-125. The 125 thickness is just right for the low B string. DR strings are hand made and worth the money!!

  • Good steel
Tried half a dozen different sets of strings on the custom I built, and was never overjoyed at the overall sound or feel. Dean Markley blue steels have always been my favorite all around strings, but they were a-little too bright, and soft for what I wanted on this particular bass. I had owned a set of DR black beauties and loved everything about them but the look, so I though I'd give DR another try. After a short break in, they are GREAT!! And they stay in tune after lots of playing. Great job DR! ... show more

  • Great strings.
The go-to strings for my MusicMan Stingray 5. I've tried everything from Ernie Ball Slinkies of several flavors to GHS Bass Boomers to these DRs, and the DRs just win hands-down. The DRs stay in tune better than any other strings I've tried, handle down-tuning really well and give me whatever I want from my bass...Clean or dirty; I can wring it out of the DRs. ... show more

  • Best strings I have used so far
Best strings I have used so far. I wonder why I didn't try theses earlier ! Even all the way across and up and down the neck. Wow!!

  • Not the easiest or best sounding string for the $$
I play and teach bass for a living. I strung a Peavey Cirrus with the Marcus Miller Fat Beams, and it took close to a month to get the strings to be really playable. These new lo-riders that I put on my Ibanez Soundgear 5-string are the same exact case. I actually had to adjust the string height because of terrible fret buzz on these strings. I am going back to D'Addario after I break these in and toss them. Very disappointed in the bass strings all around. ... show more
