  • Excellent sounding, big bottom and edgy sound! Highly recommend in cutting through sound for mix
Big fan of Dr strings. Using Sunbeam all the time but this time I decide to slap fat beam on my Jazz bass. Awesome sound and "fat" "sharp" as described. The feeling is definitely more rough than sunbeam smooth feeling, but is not that bad! As long as you build your calluses with nickel strings and control your pressing/attacking fingers, this won't peel your skin off. In addition, since it's compressed wounding and handmade, it should feel better than other stainless steel strings in the market. Try one and you won't regret it. Good luck and Stay rock! ... show more

  • Great sound! Killer tone.
These strings were on sale so i decided to give them a shot. Slapped them on my fender P bass with custom shop 62 pickups and BOOM. My bass suddenly had a serious kick in the low end. These strings make your tone sound really fat! Ive always played slinkys because of their bright tone but these fat beams have found a permanent place on my P bass. My only complaint is after 6 weeks of consistant playing they are needing to be replaced. ... show more

  • Use Fat Beams next time you change strings
Fat Beam strings are the best. They have a nice balanced response, not overly bright but very present, even volume across the strings. I'm mostly a "finger" player (as opposed to a slapper), but if you need to pop, the response stays even. I'm very impressed. String life is about average compared to other brands. ... show more

  • Did not like strings
Same gauge as previous set of Rotosounds. But went from Nickel to these stainless steel. For the life of me, I could not set up these strings to remove buzz. I am not a certified technician, but I know my way around a general set up. All I know is, perfect set up(for me) with rotosounds(same gauge), changed into these... buzz...no amount of adjustment changed this. Changed back to Rotosound, no issues. Ill stick with Rotos. ... show more

  • Felt like old dirty strings
The set I received felt like strings that were years old. They felt rough, almost dirty, and didn't allow for fluid fingering. I had to use fine sandpaper to take down the roughness of these to make them playable. They then didn't last long be for going very dead. Maybe it was a bad set, I don't know, but I went back to Elixirs and have been happy. ... show more

  • For Picking, stay away
These sound horrible on my American Fender Jazz bass. Put the stings on, and let them settle a day. I play rock with lot of 8th down picking. The E and A strings sound like duck quacking... I've never had bad strings before, this will be my first. Going back to what my guitar came with, Fender 7250M

  • they sound nice to me
I have had these for a while now. Initially they are very bright, but after breaking them in, or wearing them out, they sound nice to me. Awsome sustain and wide warm tone with no pop or buzz. I see where the name comes from
