Description

The oil filter adapter on millions of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram V6-powered vehicles often leaks oil when its plastic housing warps from harsh underhood conditions. As the plastic eventually degrades from heat and chemical exposure, it can even crack from simply tightening the oil filter cap during oil changes. When it fails, replacing it with an OEM housing could mean the same issues again in the future. This patented Dorman OE FIX filter housing is made entirely of aluminum for a more durable replacement of the failure-prone OEM housing to help prevent future leaks. The housing comes complete with mounting and intake manifold gaskets for an effective repair. The kit also includes the oil cooler, oil filter element, and oil filter cap to update the vehicle to the latest design.

  • Better then OEM
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
This part was a bit more expensive then some of the plastic or other no name brand equivalents, but Dorman is a well known brand do I didn't mind. The part was all aluminum instead of plastic like OEM and came with all gaskets and an orange cap to let you know it's an upgraded part and which specific filter you need to use. It came with a filter and all instructions for mounting and torque specs too. Installation was super easy, I watched a video on YouTube as well. Was a replacement for my 2013 Dodge grand caravan that was leaking oil. Was able to install in an afternoon an no more leaks. Definitely better quality then plastic part. Am 100% satisfied with this product. Hopefully don't have to worry about it again. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
After having already had warranty work done to replace the oem pos plastic, I went this route. Worth every penny more hoping it wont crack from the heating and cooling now. Still cant believe this replaces a piece of plastic that sits directly on top of the engine. Glad someone thought, hey lets make this aluminum and take care of this expansion contraction issue! Some burs as others mentioned but otherwise its actual install is easy. Now getting to the location to put this on is a pain!! Watch youtube and you’ll be able to do it, works great so far! ... show more

  • Perfect upgrade
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
This was a perfect fit on my 2019 Jeep Cherokee 3.2L V6. I developed a massive oil leak very quickly when the composite OEM part cracked during subzero weather. I can now be assured that failure won’t happen again thanks to this upgrade. Oh, and it was $150 cheaper on Amazon than it was from the local big box retailers! ... show more

  • Great product. The go-to standard for everyone.
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
Installation ease is determined by the vehicle manufacturer, not Dorman. Dorman's product was an easy to use, well supplied kit. Watch videos of the job BEFORE starting the job.

  • Legendary fix to a all too common problem!
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
Dorman had bad reputation, but they have stepped it up lately. This is a common problem with Pentastar 3.6 V-6 engines. The original oil filter housing is plastic. It tends to break or warp and leak oil and coolant. This kit is aluminum, and fixes this problem. It is kind of pricey, but compared to a replacement engine, well that goes without saying. It's about a 5 hour operation, done right. This is a permanent fix to this leaking problem. For this reason, I am pre-emptively replacing this piece on my wife's Jeep. It comes with an orange filter housing cap, signifying this job has been done. Although it is easy to see the aluminum housing. You'll also have to use a different oil filter than the OE one. But there is a list of filter numbers on the side of the cap. It comes with all the gaskets that are needed to do the job. Some engines use two sensors on the back of the housing, some use one. For this reason a plug comes with the housing. All new bolts too. ... show more

  • Oil Cooler leak
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
I was reluctant to put it in due to the fact of other mechanics experience with the aluminum housing style coolers. I installed it anyways and so far so good. Since I replaced it, I went ahead and replace the wiring harness as well as the oil pressure sensor. Overall, the install was good and I am happy with the results. ... show more

  • Defective!
Pattern Name: Filter Housing
Just like another reveiwer said, the oil pressure sensor channel is not machined out. I tore the top of the motor off 3 times before I figured it out. After replacing it the first time, I started the car and had no oil pressure. My first thought was that the sensor was damaged when swapping it. So I spent $50 a new one. Had to drain the oil and coolant again. Replaced the sensor and put it all back together again and still no oil pressure. Tore it down for the 3rd time and found that the channel was not machined through. I had to break it out with a pick and then spend a long time making sure all the metal shavings were cleaned out. Put it all back together again and oil pressure worked properly. Now, the problem is that it stll leaks oil. I don't know if a gasket got damaged from having to install it 3 times or if the machining of the mating surface is bad too. You can see in my 3rd picture, the bottom channel is the oil pressure. I shined a flashlight thought the original part so the hole would be visible. In my 2nd picture, you can see the little bump on the aluminum where the hole should be. I contacted Dorman customer service, and after supplying them with the dozen photos they wanted, I asked about a partial refund. This was their response: " I'm sorry you ran into this issue, but you wound up using the part, correct? We do not sell direct, so I don't have the means to refund you. All refunds, warranty replacements, etc. are done through the retailer." I do not recommend buying this part from Dorman. The quality is terrible and the customer service is just as bad. ... show more
