Since Motorcraft raised their prices by double, this filter is an easy choice. It is longer than the OEM filter for my Ford Edge. I assume great filtration than the Motorcraft filter as well. It has plastic seal over the end.

    • The Best Oil Filer /Plus Personal Tips & info.
K & N Great Protection For your High milage Blend & Full Synth. Oil. You can get at least twice the Longevity from using Full Synthethic Oil !. And This Typically Most mechanics say you can get 6 to even 10,000 miles out of this high quality oil due to the less thermal breakdown that occurs. Some Folks and Tests show even 12k is Safe (if time is under one year.). However if you are attempting to get over 4,000 miles or more out of your Oil I recommend the following: B.T.W. You can Buy Synthectic ‘Blended” Oil but for higher milage better be safe with the Full Synth. *Check your oil Level after 3 or 4,000 miles, it’s not uncommon even with a new engine to find your down a quart ! and ten after that check it every 2 or 3,000 miles. Also due to the fact (as stated above) the reduced size of modern oil filters I reccomend buying a high Quality one, in most cases its only a few dollars more, and well worth the cost since your saving on more frequent oil changes… Personally I Use Full Synthectic Oil (NOT BLENDED SYN.) and Change my oil around at around 10,000 miles but let me say that for me that is appx. 2 times a year. I don’t reccomend anyone going more than 1 year w/out an oil Change period. (using any sort of oil. ) Tips: Also I do my own oil changes and from talking to some top mechanics who say to remove the oil cap (of course) and pull out the dip stick to add in the draining of old oil I also, Fill the new oil filter close to the top and lube the gasket with a little oil before I install it. The Latter helps in the seal and the former helps the engine. I’m told by racing mechanics that the start up of an engine is when most of the potential damage and metal fragments happen. By doing this you eliminate the time it takes for the oil to cycle through the filter (leaving the engine “somewhat dry” ) with many engines you can actually hear the difference this makes. It’s a simple albeit extra step you can do that really helps. B.T.W. I use K&N Oil Filters I believe they are the best. They are most used in racing. There are two types of these: the First most available type is around $14 Dollars it comes with a welded on 1 inch “nut” that allows you to unscrew the Filter with a 1 inch Socket. The second type oil filter by K&N is of regular construction and about half the cost but I believe has the same High quality of oil filtration available as the “nut Style one). For this type you can buy at most auto part store (or Amazon if you are sure of the size) an oil filter “Cap Wrench” . I reccomend bringing in your type/size of Oil Filter to the store to test (see) that the oil Cap is the right size & grip to do the job. Get a metal one, These really save your knuckles (most need a Socket Rachet with an extendion bit) as opposed to the old metal strap kind which can be just as hard to find the right size and are quite hard to manevour on most newer engines. FYI MAZDA 6 INFO. OIL NUT and Cap Filter Sizes for my Mazda 6. /3.7 Liter V6: Oil Nut is 15mm. And the OEM (brand) Oil Filter “B” Cap wrench that works on the K&N PS-2009 is OEM… Oil Filter “B” Cap Wrench… The Mazda Brand Oil Filer (which is 2/3 the size of the K&N uses a OEM (brand) Oil Filter “A” Cap Wrench…. Either one is less than $7 new… ... show more

What can I say it arrived in about a week, (not available for Prime). I checked it over and no rust or particles that are visible, it should fit right in as I have used the version with the nut on top and those worked great, no issues. I expect good performance out of these as they are designed for both conventional and synthetic oils. I use synthetic. I ordered two and expect to order more later on. ... show more

I never used a K&N filter but being it was competitively priced I decided to give it a try. It seems like a quality filter and the fact that the screw on end is sealed with plastic (I assume to keep dirt out until installation) shows the company goes the extra mile which few seem to do these days. Installed fine on my 2008 Ford Taurus (3.5L V6 Engine). Item that arrived was made in China (Despite amazon listing of USA origin) but quality of the product was as expected and K&N is a trustworthy brand. In the future I'll probably switch back to Motorcraft brand filters because they're less expensive, OEM for my car and a bit of reading on the web suggests they might filter slightly better than the "pro series" K&N filters. ... show more
