  • Great beginning guitar for even a 34-year old newbie
Size: 40 inch Color: Black Brown
I have played some nicer brands and more expensive ones, yet this one plays just as nice and sounds just as good. For the price, it is a great buy and will be my first guitar. I have had it for several weeks and love it. I love the darker wood color I chose and it really stands out as something different from the cliche lighter wood patterns. It stays in tune very well, no defects, the kit was great and I will be playing it for many years to come! ... show more

  • EXCELLENT entry-level (or higher) budget acoustic!
Size: Full Color: Natural
This little guitar is fantastic. It is thin and feels small, but it has a MUCH bigger and brighter sound than I expected. It has a really nice ring to it and it reverberates well. I thought it might have a real dead sound to it, but it was surprisingly fantastic. It's not trying to compete with a Martin or Alvarez, but if you're considering an Epiphone, Squier, or maybe even an Alvarez, Ibanez, or Fender - consider this Donner instead. I will say the "feel" is a bit different - like the fretboard doesn't be that standard feel (probably just needs a little oil), but it looks incredible. The top and back of the guitar fell pretty thin, but you shouldn't be throwing your guitar around anyway. Overall, it's pretty great, sounds great, and the price is right - so I recommend it. It's very well packaged, the gig bag is NICE - especially with er included back pack straps, and it has all the accessories you need - extra strings, tuner (which works REALLY well), and a nice capo and picks, among others. It also has an optional pick guard if you want to put it on. Seriously, get this. The value is all there and then some. ... show more

  • It’s a 3/4 size 36” acoustic keeper!
Size: 3/4 Color: Natural
I really appreciate everyone else’s reviews when I’m reading about guitars, so I’m sharing my thoughts on this Donner DAT-110, 3/4, satin finish, spruce top, mahogany dreadnought (acoustic) guitar in Natural. I posted pics to show there are definitely TWO strap buttons, fret markers at 3,5,7,12,15,17, on the front fret board and the top side, (huge plus for folks learning), the 36” size is awesome for anyone that wants a smaller than standard acoustic. I love the black tuning pegs! On the right side of the back of the pegs pic, it shows little white dots-they’re stickers to protect the silver metal (chrome) on the back of the pegs and they just peel off (pretty cool looking) (on the left, you can see where I removed them.) This little guitar tuned up right away and 3 hours later is still in tune. I just played it another hour-it’s still holding a tune. The guitar is a really nice feel for a smaller size, it has a bit of weight to it in the neck-which is gorgeous, but it’s not heavy, and thankfully it doesn’t feel cheap! It feels good to play, it feels solid. The action is spot on and a dream to play chords-feels like no effort at all. The sustain is surprisingly good. Con’s- end of frets need to be filed-they are sharp, (which you can have done when you get new strings) Personally, I do not like the strings-they sound tinny to me and I don’t like how they feel. I’ll be having it restrung. The surface of the top of the guitar could be a teensy bit smoother in 2 spots, but that’s me being picky, cuz I’m the only one that’ll know about that, AND really, how much can I ask from such an inexpensive guitar. Also, I dislike this brand’s name/font they put ON the headstock, which makes their name appear cheap. *Come on Donner, you can do better with your branding. So all in all, lots more pro’s than cons for this little music maker. For $115 bucks all in, I think it’ll be great for anyone to learn on (w/nylon strings added or better steel strings) , and a comfortable playing experience for those that need something smaller and/or easier, due to aches & pains, etc. That said, I don’t think this guitar is for larger fingers/hands. Mine are smallish and it’s a tight fit while fretting. It also has a padded guitar case-which is a step above just the nylon/plastic cases, a padded guitar strap-it’s actually nice, and all the other goodies. It arrived within 3 days of ordering and in perfect condition. When I have my strings changed out and fret ends filed down, I’ll ask the guys at the guitar store’ opinion on it and report back. *I had ordered the same size/style guitar on Amazon from a brand that begins with P, let’s just say, this Donner 36” dreadnought is head & shoulders above that and the other one has been returned. Hopefully this info helps someone else. Happy Playing. **Update- I really love this 36” Donner guitar. It stays in tune, and it’s really designed much like the Taylor GS Mini. (I just bought a Taylor Mini and I’ve been comparing them) of course, it’s nowhere close to a Taylor but, Donner created this one in a similar style and at a much lower price point. I use my Donner for playing outside, (the Taylor stays inside) I just put new strings on it and it’s playing great. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a great deal. ... show more

  • Big sound, looks and feels great, great bang for buck
I was surprised at the sound of this guitar. Not only was it unique from my dreadnaught and grand auditorium style guitars, but was pretty fun and easy to play. Appearance/look/feel: Overall I really like the way this guitar looks. I like the black tone on the tuning machines and the bridge pins, strap pegs etc. The finish is a really nice/natural matte finish - not glossy but still smooth. Overall I really like the look a lot. Quality/condition: I was surprised at how light this guitar is, especially given it’s size. It was packaged well and didn’t come with any scrapes, scratches or nicks. I don’t think this could take a beating, but at the price point I’d say this is a great campfire/take anywhere guitar. It felt really well set up, and I haven’t noticed any issues with frets, neck, action etc. Given it’s stock from the manufacturer, a professional setup I’m sure couldn’t hurt - but it sounds fantastic as is without it. Sound: The tone is kind of new to me, but I also haven’t had a jumbo or mini jumbo guitar before. It has plenty of volume, even when fingerpicking. I really like the really strong highs/treble on this, with just enough bass and mids. This thing was made for strumming though, can really cut through a mix/band I would say. For the price, it’s a fantastic tone, with some better quality strings would sound even better. NOTE: the strings aren’t great, and are not comfortable to play (even as a 15+ year player). I’m going to swap them out soon with my go-to D’addario strings. I think it may make the tone even better (good as it already is), as I don’t think the stock strings are very good. Features/Bonus: I wish this guitar had onboard pickups/electronics, but it’s still really nice. The guitar itself is pretty basic, but sounds great as is. It came with a few generic extras with varying levels of quality/utility: -Gig bag: decent, not super padded but more than just a cover. Definitely usable. -Tuner: Didn’t seem to work great. I’ll probably use my phone or Snark. -Capo: Very nice! Also goes well with the other black accents on the guitar. Aesthetically pleasing. -Picks: Just fine -Strap: Surprisingly good, though basic. It’s a fabric of some kind, which is nice compared to the plastic-y kind. -Spare Strings: Will throw out as I think they’re pretty bad. -Pickguard (?): Randomly came with this bendy, vinyl stick on pickguard (I think), but cut doesn’t match soundhole and will go in trash. That said, plenty of really nice aftermarket pick guards that could be added. Big sound, looks and feels great, great bang for buck. ... show more
