Sometimes it’s not always feasible to try to wait for a plumber to be available if you know how to do it yourself. This drain snake is powerful enough to fight most stubborn clogs on its own and the retractable shaft is easy to control. The battery takes about an hour to fully charge and the lever controls the speed and the length of how much of the hose is out. Overall it was a simple process and I’m pleased to be able to use my sink again.

Thankfully I haven't had to use this on a clog yet, but I have dry tested it. The instruction book is very complete and easy to read. It is very straightforward and easy to use. Push the handle forward and press the trigger, the snake feeds out. Put the handle in the neutral position and the snake just rotates in place. Pull the handle back and the snake retrieves. The spin direction can also be reversed briefly in case the snake gets stuck. I'd say this tool is somewhere between prosumer and professional level. It feels like all of my other quality power tools. There are only two improvements that I would like to see. I wish it came in a blow mold case which would make it better to store in. I also wish the battery was compatible with one of the other major brands so it would be easier to find an extra or replacement.

We live in an older home and plumbing issues aren't new to us. Every so often we need to handle a tricky clog. My husband bought a drain auger at a local home center which works okay (usually) but isn't even close to this DOMINOX electric one. I'm so glad I ordered it! Just the fact that this auger works on a rechargeable battery instead of a power cord makes it well worth the purchase price in terms of convenience. Safety too, because we no longer have to risk tripping on a long extension cord. The LED light that is integrated into the front of the auger makes the work easier, as does the ergonomically-designed rubber handle. The operating lever is used to control the forward or backward motion of the flexible shaft, and the switch provides stepless control of the speed. Overall operation of the auger is pretty intuitive, and the included manual makes it even easier to understand. The website has a decent demonstration video, too. I recommend this auger for either professional or personal use. We feel will be worth the investment for use in our home if it turns out to be as sturdy as it seems.

Luckily we did not need to use this when I purchased it but I set it up to make sure it would work if ever needed and it's simple to set up and works as expected. We typically do all of our own home projects but plumbing is not our favorite but this is easy to use and would say it could be operated by any homeowner even if not particularly handy.

My sink has had a slow drain for months. I bought a smaller snake, but could never get to whatever was clogged. I charged this up and used it as soon as possible. Found a key jammed in the pipe that had hair and several other disgusting things clogged up on it. Maneuvering this around to get it unstuck was simple and within 20 mins, my drain is clog free. We had a clogged toilet at work ( 100s of guests a day in our public restroom), I brought this in, and after 10 mins, we pulled out small plastic liquor bottles. Awesome to have!
