The build quality is good. Solid metal enclosure, compact mount, smooth easy swiveling goose neck, cord is long, controller is ok (but a bit cheap), and it’s nice having 10 levels of brightness. You can run just white, only red and blue, or red/blue/green/white together. No timer and does not remember last setting if put on an external timer. Light is passable on my 2 gallon tank at its highest setting, but I wish it were a bit brighter or at least a higher color temperature. It’s not bright enough for anything beyond a 3 gallon and even a 3 gallon might be a stretch. The light is also warmer than I had hoped, regardless of setting. Guessing it’s probably 4500k.. 5000k at most. Too warm for my liking. Top of the light is 100-110 degrees F. Not uncomfortable to the touch, but much warmer than expected for such a small light. The box is entirely in Chinese. Not a lick of English, and no manual. Not that you need a manual to figure this thing out but according to the Amazon listing, this light needs 5 watts. I used a spare 5 watt Apple USB to AC iPhone power adapter and after an hour it was SCORCHING hot. I immediately unplugged it and found another USB power adapter with a higher wattage rating. As you can see in my photos, my Kill-A-Watt shows this light drawing 7 watts. What this means is that pairing it with a 5 watt power adapter is a potential fire hazard. DO NOT… I repeat DO NOT use a standard 5 watt power adapter with this! Get one that’s rated for at least 10 watts. I would have given this 4 stars, but am dropping it to 2 due to the lack of instructions and danger of pairing this with the wrong USB adapter. Manufacturer/seller/Amazon: If you are reading this, please make people aware that a 5 watt adapter is insufficient or recall this product and make sure it draws no more than 5 watts on its highest setting! ... show more
