Product works well and has a lot of features, but initial contact with Customer Service was awful! CSR was unhelpful. Promised Supervisor call back was delayed by the Emergency evacuation near their offices in Garden Grove California. The product has a minor defect. The rubber cover on the collar covering the charging port is too stiff and the rubber broke after 3 months. UPDATE: I received a call back from the Customer Service Manager. The Customer Service Manager apologized for the misinformation from the CSR and sent a replacement part. The collar works really well. I had tried another brand which was very intermittent. Further two professional Dog Trainers have recommended the Dogtra collars as the most reliable on the market. I did suggest that they revise the design of the rubber port cover to make it less likely to break prematurely, and to offer quick release strap options. ... show more

    • Inconsistent and intermittent stimulation

This is the second Dogtra collar I have purchased because my older model was so heavy, bulky, and did not have a "lock" function on the stim dial. I was excited about the claims that this collar was lighter and more streamlined as I have a long-necked thin haired weimarenar / lab / pit mix who is still in recall training and I want to condition him properly. I noticed when I was testing the level with my dog to find the lowest level he could detect that sometimes he would sense something and then other times he would jump like he was truly being shocked, then other times feel nothing at all. VERY Disconcerting, when I made sure to keep the level locked on that low level, and the collar securely in place on his neck and fitted properly. I was confused so continued to test it on myself and discovered that the stim level changes on its own - both the level and the continuous feeling. Sometimes its a prick, other times a pulse, other times there is nothing. I am calling the company tomorrow to see if there's anything I can do as the unit either does not engage or zaps at a way higher level than set. I understand exactly how to use these collars and I am an experienced handler, but I cannot risk confusing and hurting my dog with a product that is malfunctioning. For $270 I expect way more. I also do not like that you have to hold a setting for 5 seconds to switch between Nick and Continuous. If I want to send a corrective nick for LEAVE IT or NO! for lets say...garbage eating or a behavior I want to stop in its tracks, there is NO time to look at the unit, wait 5 seconds while holding two buttons to switch between the functions. I choose CONTINUOUS for recall and need to quickly switch between the too. Not user friendly. I am also disappointed in the cheap plastic strap of a collar - this needs to evolve and reflect the "premium" price. They should offer a comfortable ergonomic bungee collar for all models not just the Tom Davis one. Lastly, I do not find this collar to be as light and streamlined as marketed - it is still chunky and the points are pretty long. I will likely switch brands and try the Mini Educator now if Dogtra cannot help me resolve this issue. It's just too risky to mess around with intermittent stim levels that have a mind of their own. ... show more

Nice collar. Refuses to stay charged. For example, after a full charge we will have it on our dog for a couple days (we remove it in the evening/overnight to give him rest). The next morning we will try to turn it on any its blinking red. We have done this cycle over and over and it has gotten annoying. Otherwise it is an effective training tool and works as advertised. ... show more

Expensive but it works very well. Dogs learn commands and when they exert their own interpretation you can correct them. It doesn't hurt them but gives them a gentle reminder.

This is an excellent product. I've got a young husky, that should say it all, but she really has a mind of her own and I didn't want something to punish her I wanted something to teach her to engage her to share time with her. This product gives me the ability to do just that. I can communicate with her non-verbally and verbally to create a connection between the two of us. This is a quality product not like some of the "cheaper" products that you can find. This is a professional piece of equipment that allows the average dog owner the ability to take care of their four-legged family members. I opted for this unit for several reasons the slim fit the fact that it will fit multiple sizes of animals as I have a 110 lb GSD I have an 80 lb Ridgeback and a 60 lb husky after undergoing a four-way bypass surgery I needed something to help me get through to this husky, then I realized I really need to get through to the others so the fact that it has three family member capacity was key in my purchase.     • Dogtra Arc collar not working well on our GSD

Have always trained with dogtra collars for our GSDs. . Was hoping to get one smaller than our 1900S, ordered the arc. Not happy with it at all so will be returning. Dog does not respond unless up to 92. That’s crazy! Maybe it’s not working correctly.
