  • Didn't keep.
Color: Plastic Size: Medium
We decided this wasn't a good plan for our dogs so returned it. It was well made and wouldve served the purpose if we had kept.

  • Great door- but read this if you live somewhere it gets below 30 degrees
Color: Plastic Size: Small
I bought this doggy door for my 3 Labrador retrievers so they can take themselves outside. This was the best door I could find without spending $5-600+. It seems pretty well made and durable. I did have to return the first one as the corner got bent during shipping. I live in PA - so weather here is mostly cold and rainy. It was important to me to find a door that was energy efficient. There’s nothing energy efficient with a hole in the side of your house- but you try to find the closest thing to it. I had my dad who is a contractor install the door for me so I can’t attest to the installation part, but will report there was minimal swearing and only took about an hour to complete. Extra insulation was padded around the frame of the door and framed into the wall so it won’t budge over time and use. Pros: Built well The magnets are pretty strong Door flaps are thick Size is very big Looks very clean Cons: The metal door- why is it only notched on the one side beats me. I will say I’m glad it came with the hardware (the thing with the spring that holds the door up by the notch) as we just added it to the other side with a second notch so the door isn’t crooked, I added a photo. Bonus- it adds a layer of security as the door can only be opened from the inside. Unless you break it from outside in. The magnets seem to not want to stick when they get a little dirty, so I have to wipe them with a wet cloth from time to time. Things I can’t really comment on at this time, but will update after a few months of use: The door flaps- yes I had them as a pro, but being in PA in January it does get pretty cold. I noticed the flaps get very stiff and with a breeze will not magnetize and cold air flows in. You can see this door was build in a closet, so I’m able to close the door and not feel the draft, but if you plan on buying this door please keep that in mind. It could be that after some use this may not be a problem as the material stretches and becomes more fluid- but it’s at least worth mentioning for the time being. ... show more

  • Takes a little for dogs to get used to but excellent!
Color: Alum-double Panels Size: Large
UPDATE: after 11 months, one door started not closing every time due to the spring hinge wearing out. I contacted the company PETOUCH since it was still in the 1 year warranty window. They sent me a new one. Still love this dog door and now if the hinges go out again I have replace hinge parts to fix it with. Still the best dog door I have ever owned!* ORIGINAL POST: No bugs get in. The flaps are rigid and flop back right after dog goes through. They come with a metal barrier than can be inserted to close off the door. Also comes with little plastic locks on the bottom of each door for when you are too lazy to put down the metal slide in door blocker. Had to cut those off because the dogs kept locking themselves out unintentionally and it became frustrating. The plastic slide down locks won’t stop an intruder and just frustrates the pets who tend to kick the door before coming through. Cut off the stupid plastic locks and now the dogs never feel locked out and if I need to close it for security I can insert the metal slide. ... show more

  • Upside Outweighs Downside
Color: Plastic Size: Small
It was fairly easy to install, but if you have a metal door, come prepared with an angle grinder and metal cutting wheel to carve out the opening. Once that's done, clamping indoor-outdoor frames with a screwdriver is simple. I didn't realize, however, just how much outside air infiltrates the plastic flap. If it's windy, that flap will flap. Alot. The magnetic hold isn't strong enough to keep it closed, and besides the air on cold mornings just comes on int through the sides of the flap. Certainly something to consider if you are fanatical about heat and air conditioning efficiency... this will put a large hole (literally) into your efficiency computations. During rainstorms a little, not much, water may blow through the flaps sides, and a lot will come in if the wind bangs against the flap (you'll hear it constantly flapping because, again, the magnets are not strong enough IMHO). On the brighter side, the flap works well and my guard Pomeranian got used to it in a hurry and now can come-and-go as she pleases. I may upgrade, but for now it fills the requirement. ... show more

  • Springs brake quickly can't find replacements
Color: Alum-double Panels Size: Medium
While I loved this door and purchased 2 of them, 1 for the house and 1 for the garage, the springs are NOT HEAVY DUTY and brake easily. NO WAY TO GET A HOLD OF THE COMPANY TO PURCHASE NEW SPRINGS. Would give this 5 stars if you could get replacement parts, but to spend that much and not be able to get replacements parts within 7 months of purchasing I'm very DISAPPOINTED. It seals great and doesn't let any cold air in but need to be able to access to company to purchase replacement SPRINGS!!! PETOUCH PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH REPLACEMENT SPRINGS!!!! ... show more

  • It works
Color: Plastic Size: Small
Don't let anyone fool you into thinking it's easy to line this up, cut your door with a jigsaw, and get everything nice and straight and level. It isn't. I didn't say it can't be done; I'm just saying that I didn't succeed. I got the thing installed, but it isn't perfectly straight. I won't detract any stars due to installation issues because a pro could do it better than I did. Once installed the door works as advertised. Our dog, a toy poodle, was hesitant to use it for several days. He would push the door with his nose and then when the door swung back and hit his face he walked away from it. He finally got over that and now he uses it a lot. We haven't tried the one way locks since we want him to go both in and out, so I can't comment on that aspect. I don't know how you could do any better, even with a higher priced door. This one does everything it should. I would recommend it. ... show more
