This cat door was easy to install, but I should have planned a little better, as I deviated from the standard placement. I installed it in the wall of my greenhouse which is sheet metal on the outside, but Styrofoam on the inside. Attaching to the sheet metal was no problem, but I had nothing for screws to bite into on the Styrofoam side. For installation I taped the guide sheet to the metal, positioned it with a level, and traced around it with a marker. I then used an angle grinder to cut a hole in the metal. I cut through the Styrofoam with a sawsall blade. I ended up having to initially wire the frame together temporarily until I could pick up some nuts and extra long screws from the hardware store. I couldn't find any screws that were long and thin enough, so I ended up buying a threaded rod that was 3' long and 1/4" thick. I had to drill the cat door screw holes a little wider for my non-stock screws, and I cut the rod into 7" lengths. After putting everything together loosely, I sprayed gap filler around the outside of the door tunnel then tightened the screws. (I'll cut the excess off the 7" rods later. I'll probably caulk too in the spring.) The door flaps are flexible in warm weather, but at night it's so cold (it's mid November) that they become stiff. Also the bottom edge pieces of the door flaps tend to slide sideways such that they can catch on the door frame, so I'll have to tape or glue them. I propped the doors slightly open for a week to train the cats, but now they push through despite the stiffness, and they love slipping in and out of the warm greenhouse. A solid metal panel is included which can be slid into place to securely close the cat door. There's a latch that keeps it from slipping, whether the panel is open or closed, and there's one on each side, so you don't have to worry about accidentally installing the cat door "backwards." If you were to cut a piece of sheet metal the right shape you could even close off both sides for extra insulation and security.

Well… plastic things that dry rot and … yeah you get the point! Haha I came across this pet door and , simply read the easy instructions and ordered, few quick days later……it arrived!! I was like the guy and the 🦵 leg lamp on the Christmas story!!! Well the doors cooler, I’m getting there though!!❤️ Upon picking this GEM up, wow! Got some weight!!! I opened it and wow wow wow! Inside was the door of all doors! The template was very cut to the point. No pun intended… Easy to install! “Building a tiny house, then the pups have a run to their tiny house” .. so yes I am 100% buying another one for their house…. What I really liked about this right off the bat, the security panel filler! Was not a piece of flimsy plastic!! Heavy duty! The other incredible feature was the double flap! Most only have “here again” a flimsy clear plastic thing that really looks like crap after a few uses! The creator has to be a pet owner! And really cares!!! It shows ❤️❤️❤️❤️ The locking mechanism is perfect for what anyone would need! Let me say NO COOL AIR drifts though the flaps either! Huge plus! The set comes with all the proper hardware “screws” you will need! I did use a poly foam seal between aluminum fram and sub wall! Not needed , only a preference! We ordered this doggy door to replace the one that was already installed when we bought our house. That door looks like it is 20 years old because it is made of plastic, and the plastic has yellowed and has tiny cracks at the corners. For a long time we kept something in front of it so we didn't have to look at it, but we just rescued a 1-year old dog from our local shelter and he is just the right size for the opening, so we set our minds to upgrading the existing door to something better. That's how we came to own one of these VOSOIR brand doggy doors. It is all-aluminum except for the flaps themselves. It looks a thousand times better than the junky plastic one we removed. The frame looks like every other mitered frame that is installed around your windows, so it just fits in better in our kitchen. The flaps are also really heavy duty feeling. We live in the mountain west so in the winter it gets cold at night and the last thing I need is to let all the hot air we paid to heat escape through a poorly insulated doggy door. I don't have that metric to collect yet (it's only October) but so far I have no reason not to believe what the product details said. I also appreciate the magnetic style closure for how it will keep flies from getting in. Prior to the doggy door, we would crack the patio door when he goes out and that inevitably allows flies to get in. So, overall we're quite pleased with this new aluminum doggy door!
