This is a great rod for throwing crankbaits. I paired it with a diawa tatula ct and have been nothing but impressed with it. Good backbone softer fast tip and the balance and weight is just unreal. I've landed walleye up to 8 lbs on it and wiper and largemouth up to 5lbs. At this price it is just a steal of a deal. All said and done I went back and purchased a second one , then a different model at a medium heavy for chatterbaits and so on. I also just bought a fourth one for finesse spinning throwing needs and so on. One thing I really like are the size of the eyes they aren't so small as the braid to flouro leader doesn't bump to hard and shorten the casting distance. These have become my go to rods for my fishing needs. They feel like much higher priced rods ... show more

This rod looks great, and feels light in the hands which I like. The tip is definitely fast. Should be good for setting hooks on smallmouth bass. I have paired this with a Daiwa Legalis 3000 and will use 10# braid. Haven't tried it yet, but the price and quality is very nice. Item MK692SF, the 6'9" medium light. I was torn between this and the medium. Glad I bought the medium light over the medium. I plan to use this kayak fishing. I find it easier to have a rod under 7' when fixing the line in a kayak, especially if it wraps around the tip. Highly recommend. ... show more

Purchased my first rod from dobyns on here, took a trip to upper Michigan and had the tip snap on me. Was a little flustered about it. Went through the warranty process on their website and they got back to me and sent out a whole new rod! Shipping the replacement took about two weeks but at the end I have a complete rod again. Have only used it a couple times but seems to be decent for my needs. ... show more

    • A high Quality Rod For The Money

I picked up 4 models of this rod: MK693fs, MK704c, MK734C, and MK735C for a total of $227. I needed some rods to fill my kayak and for bank fishing after moving most of my rods to my new boat. I saw these on sale and picked some up. I am glad that I did, they feel much like many of the other Dobyns rods that I own, just a little heavier and less refined. The rods balance well in your hand so they won't feel too heavy to hold. The sensitivity is pretty good and the hook ups with bass have been very good as well. Something to know about Dobyns's casting rods is that their MH is more like a Medium in other brands. For me, a MH is 1/4 - 1oz, which is listed as a Heavy in Dobyns's line. Their Extra Heavy is more like a Heavy. I compared the MK734C to my Tatula Elite MH casting rod and they are very similar in action. If you can get these rods in $50 - $65 range, pick up multiple, it is worth it. I might pay $99 for this rod, but $129 is way too much, there are better options out there. Just got back to fishing. Haven’t used it long enough to speak on how durable it is but it feels sturdy. Functions like it supposed to. Cast out good and have caught a few fish. I got the 6’9” medium fast rod which is the perfect size for bass. Good rod without breaking the bank. Would recommend.

Used it 2 times and set the hook and it snapped in half. It was on sale. I assume a batch must have been damaged maybe the ones that aren’t on sale are of normal quality
