Beautiful assortment of DMC's specialty threads/floss! I was so excited to open this package and add it to my stitching stash because you never know when you'll want to add just a touch of sparkle or something extra to the patterns one picks to stitch. As a cross stitcher, I found myself replacing a color here or there previously with other brand metallics. Now that I have this nice assortment (no duplicates and yes, 100 skeins, the same assortment as is available via the DMC website) the color code numbers (aka DMC numbers) match up nicely with only a letter difference to tell which is a satin floss (S) or a Light Effects floss (E). 20 qty satins, 17 'metallic' Light Effects, 2 neon Light Effects and even 1 white glow-in-the-dark skein. As for the remaining floss... I have never worked with variegated floss before but am looking forward to seeing the results. 20 skeins of DMC Color Variations (in the low 4000 number color codes), 18 skeins also variegated colors (in the 51 to 125 color code number range) and 22 skeins DMC Coloris also variegated (in the 4500s color code numbers). Honestly, some people find metallics hard to work with in cross-stitching, but if you don't rush it and work with a small amount I think the end result is worth the patience. I've never used satins, they do feel slippery,so I'm sure there will be a learning curve there as well. As for the the remaining cotton variegated floss, I can't wait to try them to see what type of look it has when stitching a forest scene or for lettering etc. Yes, these are made to be divided out (6 stranded, I typically use 2 strands at a time). Hmmm, I could also see the appeal of using the variegated floss in friendship bracelet making.... I am definitely happy with this purchase and see it as a supplement to my regular DMC cotton 6-stranded floss stash. Just what I needed to add that 'extra something' to make my projects mine.

Very happy with this large assortment of special DMC colors! I often can’t find these in stock in my local craft store, and I’ve been trying to expand my cross stitch repertoire into patterns that can use specialty threads. This was an easy way to grow my collection of threads and floss.

I was excited to get 100 skeins but I don’t think I’ll be using more than half of the colors. Many of them are odd colors that they put together in the variation pattern. I would’ve been better to find 50 colors that I knew I really liked and that I would be using.
