I flew two trips with this and another seat. It is heavy for flights, but I managed, also fairly quick and easy to install in a plane seat. If flying with it again I would devise a way to lock it folded up and to carry it as a backpack. Usually it is installed in a full size truck and I like how it looks and is easy to get in and out of for my 4 almost 5 yr old. I spent a solid week debating between the Graco Slimfit and the Diono - and I am SO GLAD I went with the Diono. We previously had the bulky Graco DLX4Evers, and my 5yo would constantly say her legs were uncomfortable, despite the seat being positioned correctly. Getting in and out was always a struggle too, due to how bulky they are. After needing to replace the Gracos, we switched out to the 3RX and my kiddos (3yo and 5yo) both LOVED them. They both said how comfortable they are, and my 5yo spent days saying how much more comfortable it was. Getting in and out is SO MUCH easier for them both, now that there's no bulk. No more hitting heads on the roof, either. Bonus! Instruction manual is tucked into a pocket under the seat cover, and despite a lot of reviews saying installation is hard, it's not that bad at all. Different to the Gracos? For sure! (But I am also only using forward-facing, which is pretty easy, I imagine rear-facing is more tedious). This car seat fits low to the seat and really stays in place. It's heavier than other car seats due to its metal construction. The dense foam memory foam is the most comfortable we've come across as others just seem to use batting.... Kids love the new seats. They have been easier for the kids to unbuckle which could be a pro or a con depending on how independent they are. ... show more

This car seat is great if you have more than one child sitting in a row. It is much heavier than most seats, and I definitely didn’t expect that. if you want lightweight and slim, this is not that seat for you. I gave it 4 stars because it is so heavy. Otherwise, I like it.

After going through a couple of different car seats that were just so big in our car, we tried this Diono out and it has been a game changer in terms of seat kicking! Really allows for big/tall children to not be so close to the seat and is heavy duty..lots of steel in it so not light for toting, but safe. I think it would be somewhat difficult but not impossible if you wanted to travel with this seat, and they make carrying accessories, but we keep it firmly planted in our car. ... show more
