Purchased this last Christmas for in wall installation and used it heavily during the winter (20-30 hours per week) during the winter. Less during the summer. Have had no issues with it. Not overly noisy. There is a motor in it so there is some minimal noise. The only problem I had was the the log things that were included were broken upon arrival. I wasn't using them anyway so I just threw them away. The decorative glass pieces are very sharp so wear gloves or be careful. Multiple flame and color settings. Heater would be okay in a small room but not much help in a larger room. Comparable to a small electric heater. I plugged this in to an existing outlet, but my lights dim when the heater comes on. Never tripped the breaker but the heater is high wattage so you may need a separate circuit if you have heavy use on the circuit it is plugged into. Can be used without heat though and in that case it uses very little electricity - just enough for the motor and LEDs. Assembly was straight forward and instructions were good. Many videos online regarding assembly. One nice thing about Dimplex is that parts are usually available online in case the motor goes out or starts making noise. Updated review, after reaching out to the manufacturer, they have sent a replacement unit with no questions asked along with a gift card for our troubles. Hopefully this newer unit will not have the same issues as the last one. Customer service was great. This fireplace was great for the first several months and we were very pleased with it. However, one morning when we woke up we had discovered that the fireplace had exploded from the inside out. It was off at the time and had not been turned on in several weeks prior. Installation was done by a professional contractor. Luckily this occurred at night while everyone was sleeping. It could have been much worse as this is the spot where both of my children play. Glass shot out of the fireplace approximately 16 feet into the living room. We had to throw away the play mat, living room rug, a hand made blanket and several children's toys due to tiny shards of glass being embedded into everything. Be very careful with this purchase! And for the record, yes I am certain nobody damaged it creating this to happen. We have cameras in our house and this occurred all on its own. ... show more

I searched a long time for electric fireplace before I came across this one. I freaking love this thing. I would have gave it 5 stars but the faux log in mine is broken and is need of replacing. Other than that, it looks great in the new wall unit I had built in my living room.

I've had no problems so far. Bought this unit to place inside my tv stand. I built a box in the cabinet following the wall mount dimensions/instructions and a few trips to my local hardware store. Instillation was easy. It comes with white rocks, clear glass chips, or a log base. I research many units before settling on this one. Somehow I thought the wood pieces could be rearranged. Not this one, the wood is one piece. You really can't mix the the wood with the stone or glass but we found we could carefully place the smaller glass pieces in-between the arch in the wood. That's the look we like best. The unity has many flame and color settings to choose from and when you turn the unit off, as long as you don't unplug it, it will return to that setting when you turn it on again! Love that memory feature. We haven't use the heater much as we don't need it. As expected, it makes a hum when on. It is a softer hum than my central heat for the house (which is only a few years old), so I think it's great! Just normal heater sounds. It didn't take long for the space to warm up. I purchased this product as a supplemental heater for our "Movie Room". I had been using a heater that looked like a radiator. It served the purpose, but was not aesthetically pleasing. The electric fireplace would be both warmer and also nicer to look at. I initially planned to hang it on the wall, but decided instead to use the foot stands (in case we wanted to move it). Installation was quite easy, but not all of the crystals would fit in the space allotted. The fireplace warms the room nicely and has a good ambiance. My only detraction is that the flames are not totally "real" looking, but I never had a chance to view the fireplace before purchasing. ... show more

I bought this for a luxury apartment that does not allow gas. I had a custom cabinetmaker build a 6" deep mantel and this slid right in. The heat output is fine, it says 1000 sq feet which I think is a bit of a stretch. It is a 1400W heater that is very quiet (imperceptibly so). The flames are extremely realistic, so far my only 2 guests did not know it was fake. If you look closely, you can tell, but it really does look great. For the money this is a steal.
