It helps with my posture, and it's firm enough that it provides very good support. I simply move it up or down on my chair backing. Another lumbar support pillow was too thick for me... it pushed my lower back so far from the chair that it was hard to sit back in the chair with my shoulder blades touching the chair back. This pillow was great -- especially after my physical therapist told me *not* to position it in the place with pain in my lower back. Instead, he said I should position it a bit lower... that lets me use more force (from the bone) to push the cushion into the chair (instead of pushing with my softer lower back, which already hurts!). I woke up with a sore lower back this morning. After I sat in the chair, the pain went away almost completely!

I like that it doesn't smell. I bought a different kind and it smelled, so that's why this characteristic is sticking out in my mind. It is well-made. I bought this because the drivers seat of my Ford Fusion has poor lumbar support. It didn’t work well for this because the retaining strap basically had it floating in the air away from the seat back. This is due to the bucket design of the car seat. It DOES work however for an office chair.
