I made a mistake in deciding these rugs would not work for us. I ordered these rugs in three different colors -- red, black and blue -- intending to use them at our house's entrances because they're washable and winter in the Hudson Valley is a mess. But I returned them all when I read the label and freaked out: "Due to variations in hand dying and the nature of the dyes used, colors may transfer. Use of a rug liner between flooring or carpeted surfaces is highly recommended to help prevent transfer of colors." I wasn't about to purchase rug liners, especially when I couldn't be certain that liners would solve the problem of color transfer. Amazon was quite kind. They gave me credit for all the rugs, but asked me to return only the black and blue ones. I was going to donate the red ones, but decided to wash them first. I was surprised when the colors didn't bleed and am now using them on a floor with dark tile and grout as well as on a jatoba Brazilian cherry hardwood floor, which is also quite dark. While I wouldn't trust these rugs on carpeting or on flooring or grout that might be discolored, they're working well -- they look quite nice -- in areas where I'm not concerned about color transfer. ... show more

I was originally looking for a rag-type rug, but saw this and went for it. I wanted to get a rug that our dog could lay on outdoors when we go camping, that we could just roll up an throw in the back of the truck. I think this was actually a better choice than the 'rag rug' I had envisioned. This is pretty sturdy, though a bit rough feeling, so I think it will work very well for our purposes. For now, I have put it on the couch where she likes to lie so she knows it's 'hers'. This would be a great entryway or kitchen rug, too. I’m ordered this for the front walkway of my boyfriends house . The color is nice and the material is really thick and I think this will last a couple years with some pretty decent use. I gave it a four star rating for “easy to clean” because I haven’t had to clean it yet. I plan on throwing it in the wash on delicate and letting it air dry. ... show more

I bought this in red specifically because it was machine washable. It looks great and the quality is good, but the tag says fibers of unknown origin and to spot clean it. Ugh! Not gonna work in the kitchen. Huge pain in the butt to now have to return and start all over again!
