The item took awhile to get here (delivery date clearly stated no rush delivery and gave an estimated shipping time of nearly a month, I believe - and it was shipped in a lovely box which was delivered to me within the specified time frame and he received in very fine condition. The pieces of thus item are made prey well. I would not say it was made with precision in every detail of design and finish but got the price i would say it is very good quality. The pieces are kind of delicate and it needs to be handled with a bit of care so not to break the hurricane glass. It is easy to use and delivers a smooth tasting coffee. This coffee maker is just darn good looking. Oh yeah, it actually works. It takes a little extra time and it is not a push-a-button. The coffee is superb. It is also quite interesting to watch. Who knew, stepping back in time, coffee could taste so good. The alcohol burner has an odd smell when it is working, so be ready for that. But man, the coffee. Can't get this from an automatic. We love this coffee maker. We had a Bodum coffee maker years ago that was also a vacuum coffee maker. We wanted to get something like it that wasn't made out of plastic. We did not want plastic to come in contact with the coffee either. This is made of glass and metal. The filter is cloth. It is so much fun to watch and makes a very smooth cup of coffee. It is small though. It makes about 1 very large mug or 2 small cups of coffee. We don't use it every day but we love it when we want this type of coffee. ... show more

I love it! I am a 3rd wave coffee enthusiast. I roast my own beans and have most of the various manual coffee contraptions out there. I even want to start my own coffee shop one day. All that to say that I am thoroughly impressed with this Belgian siphon. If you’ve ever had regular siphon before, you know what it tastes like and this is no different.
